About Skiing at a Ski Resort in Gulmarg
Gulmarg is considered as the best skiing destination of India. This place is characterized by steep skiing slopes that are set amongst breathtaking and picturesque views. Due to these qualities, Gulmarg draws ski enthusiasts in large numbers every year. The skiing area of Gulmarg is known as the Gulmarg ski resort. The Alpine slopes will offer you amazing runs for over two kms with an altitude drop of about 700 m. The Phase II gondola that takes you to the summit or ski resort is the second highest functional cable car in the whole wide world.
Every level of skiers are welcome in Gulmarg. From first-timers to professionals, Gulmarg ski resorts have something for everyone. There are multiple ski packages to choose from as well. The two km trail is mostly for amateur skiers. For those in the intermediate level, there is a trail that is stretched over a distance of 3 kms, also called the phase 1 trail.
There is nothing to worry about your safety since there are a bunch of instructors who are always around you and are extremely alert. Beginners will be taught in small slopes and the difficulty level will increase only when you are ready for it. Initially assisting snow lifts are available for beginners.
Coming to the resorts and ski lodges, you have quite a few options to choose from, depending on the location, budget, view and the proximity to the ski area. There is also the official Indian Institute of skiing and mountaineering that is present in Gulmarg. Here, you can get assured professional training for snow skiing and have all the technicalities checked. The Institute has several courses to offer. There is a 14-day ski course that is available at Rs 12000 during the months of December and March. The accommodation is provided for ski trainees and also for regular tourists. The average cost of the rooms here is Rs 3500 a night.
Pre-booking of ski resorts is available in various websites that will give you a complete picture of the skiing scene over there. During peak seasons, it is advised to make a booking ahead of your journey to the ski resorts. You do not want o go all the way and be disappointed on your accommodation after all.
