How to Reach Amarnath Temple, Pahalgam

Amarnath Yatra by Flight: Helicopter journey starts from Srinagar and ends at Panjtarni. Amarnath caves are only 2 km from Panjtarni. In order to reach Amarnath Temple from different parts of India, take a flight. Srinagar Airport is the nearest airport to Amarnath. Flights operate from different parts of India to Srinagar Airport. It takes a couple of hours to reach Amarnath temple from Srinagar airport. 

Amarnath Yatra by Train: The nearest railhead to Amarnath Yatra is the Jammu Tawi Railway Station. Jammu Tawi railhead is located at a distance of 178 km from Amarnath. You can take a local taxi to reach Baltal from where you can start your trek to Amarnath which will take around 1 to 2 days to complete Amarnath trek distance of 15 km. Take a helicopter, or walk on foot, or get a pony ride to directly reach the temple from here. Pahalgam to Amarnath trek is also an option which is an easier one but takes more time. 

Amarnath Yatra by Road: Travel to Jammu by road and then to Srinagar and finally to Baltal or Pahalgam. The shortest trek to Amarnath is Baltal while an easier one is Pahalgam trek. Take the Pahalgam trek if you are traveling with families and elder people. Amarnath Yatra walking distance from Baltal is 15 km takes a duration of 1-2 day trek while Pahalgam to Amarnath trek takes 3-5 days to cover 36-48 km.
