Focus Mall, Kerala's First Shopping Mall

When Focus Mall opened in 2007, it was the first shopping mall in Kerala, and it introduced Calicut to the idea of doing everything in one place: buying clothes, catching a film, eating out and letting the kids play, without moving the car. That is why locals still call it the first mall in Kerala, and why it became a landmark almost immediately. Built over about 2.5 lakh square feet on five floors, it was designed around a big anchor store with rows of branded and non-branded outlets fanning out from it.

Newer and larger malls have since opened in the city, so Focus is no longer the biggest. Its pull is different now. It is central, easy to reach on foot, and it carries the history of being the one that started Kerala's mall culture. For a first-time visitor to Kozhikode, it is still the most convenient place to shop, eat and watch a film in a single stop.

Focus Mall Kozhikode Timings

Focus Mall is open every day, roughly from 10 am to 9 pm, with individual stores and the food court keeping their own hours around that window. The multiplex stays open later for evening shows. Weekends and festival sale days get busy after about 5 pm, so a weekday morning or early afternoon is the calmer time to shop.

Floors, Stores and Brands

The five floors are built around a large anchor store, with the rest of the space given to fashion, footwear, accessories and lifestyle outlets from national and international labels, alongside a section of local and non-branded shops. Parking and Facilities

Parking is one of Focus Mall's practical advantages in a crowded city centre. It has room for more than 600 vehicles across the basement and the terrace, which matters on Rajaji Road where on-street parking near the bus stand is tight. Inside, escalators and lifts connect all five floors, and there are restrooms and seating on the food-court level. The layout is compact enough to cover on foot without the sprawl of the newer, larger malls.

How to Reach Focus Mall

Focus Mall is on Rajaji Road, directly opposite the KSRTC (New) bus stand, so it is one of the easiest places in Kozhikode to reach without a car.

By bus: The KSRTC and Puthiya (New) bus stand is right across the road, so almost every city and intercity bus drops you within a two-minute walk.

By train: Kozhikode railway station is about 2 km away, roughly a 10-minute auto or taxi ride.

By air: Calicut International Airport (Karipur) is about 25 km away, around an hour by road.

Best Time to Visit

Focus Mall is comfortable year-round because it is air-conditioned, which makes it a useful stop during Kerala's humid afternoons and monsoon showers.
