Sarovaram or the Sarovaram Bio Park is located in Kozhikode city of Kerala, India. It is an eco-friendly development which is located next to Canoly Canal near Kottooli. The Bio Park project was undertaken with an aim to create an eco-friendly theme park. The complete ecosystem of the Sarovaram Bio Park consists of mangrove forests, wetlands and habitats of birds. The Sarovaram Bio Park encompasses a huge, protected area of 200 acres. The project is undertaken by Govt. of India as an attempt to protect all the 27 identified wetlands of India.
Sarovaram Bio Park offers a safe, protected place to conserve the species of mangrove trees and preserve the natural flora of the area. The park is also famous as one of the 27 wetlands of India. Consisting of 7 mangrove species and 29 related species, the park is a safe haven for at least 34 different varieties of birds. The Park is covered with natural landscape, verdant foliage and rich wildlife. It is a perfect place to take a break from the hustle bustle of daily life. Tourists come here to rejuvenate their body and mind amidst the ethereal surrounding. Apart from peaceful retreats, tourists can also enjoy some of the other entertaining facilities such as boating, musical fountain and an open-air theatre. Sarovaram biopark in Kozhikode has also gained a reputation as a hangout spot for college couples.
Sarovaram Bio Park in Calicut is definitely one of the 27 wetlands of India but it is also one of the best places that is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. There are nearly seven species of mangrove forests in the park. The 34 types of birds include the birds of water and land as well.
