About Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary
This unique sanctuary is located in Kozhikode in Kerala. Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary is not only appealing to the eyes but also to the camera since it is home to endless migratory and avian species. The area of this bird sanctuary covers bewitching islands and hills. This place is a mecca for all birdwatchers.
One can spot numerous birds flying over the Kadalundi river. Some of the most common birds that can be spotted here are seagulls, sand plovers, greenshanks, terns, etc. If you ever thought of paradise, this place is it for all the birdwatchers.
History of Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary
The Kadalundi river flows through this sanctuary. Therefore, the sanctuary is also named after it. The river passes through the sanctuary along with the Silent Valley and Malappuram and finally pours to the mighty Arabian Sea. A total of 60 species of migratory birds are noted to flock at this sanctuary throughout the year. Even though the sanctuary is almost always flocked with birds, the duration between the months of November and April is considered ideal for spotting them.
