Anakkara is a small village in the Idukki district of Kerala.

Anakkara lies in the Western Ghats at a height of 4000 feet above the sea level. Anakkara is famous for its spice plantations and is situated at a distance of about 13 km from Thekkady and 120 km from Kottayam. It has comfortable climate throughout the year with an average annual temperature of 22-degree.

There are numerous cardamom and pepper plantations in and around Anakkara. Due to the various spice plantations in Anakkara, this village is being developed as a Spice Tourism Circuit under a project which is sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme and the Government of India. This is a huge boon for the tourism business in and around this village, as this is expected to attract tourists not only from India but from all over the world. There are a lot of spice shops here, which offer fresh spices with the blissful aroma.
