About Coakers Walk in Kodaikanal
Coakers Walk is a man-made walking plaza, carved on the steep slopes of mountains in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu. Constructed in 1872, by Lieutenant Coaker, the spot is christened in his name. The place stands at a distance of almost half a kilometer from Kodaikanal Lake. The stroll starts close to Van Allen Hospital and intersects the main road above St. Peter's Church. As strollers enjoy, their safety is ensured by the edge of the mountain that fences the trail.
Coakers Walk in Kodaikanal is a much-loved location for walks in mornings and evenings. Moreover, the region is blessed by pleasant to cold weather through the major part of the year. Visitors prefer to indulge in activities such as photography, cycling, and sightseeing. Most especially, nature lovers look forward to exploring the place in order to capture the scenery of emerald valleys and majestic hills. Riding a bicycle and soaking in the beauty around also imparts a great experience here. The scenery is so beautiful, it seems visitors are enjoying a stroll through the clouds.
The valley of River Pambar lies to Coakers Walk’s south-east and Dolphin's Nose along with Madurai city lies to its south. No wonder, Coakers Walk is a mesmeric spot where tourists can enjoy a distant view of the Periyakulam. Visitors can also take up exciting activities here such as boating, visiting telescope house, and shopping to your heart’s content at a marketplace nearby. If fortune favors, tourists can also partake in the magical Brachem Spectre - a rare phenomenon in which one can see his own shadow on the clouds with a rainbow halo when the sun is behind and mist in the front.
At Coakers Walk in Kodaikanal, visitors can experience the magic and magnetism of the charming nature. Without a doubt, this place treats visitors with myriad scenic treats that leave vacationers spellbound.
