About Botanical Garden in Ooty
The Botanical Garden in Ooty is one of the largest botanical gardens in India, is an amazing place to be for nature lovers, and those who love to be around exotic and rare flora. Covering an area of almost 55 hectares, this botanical garden in Ooty lies on the foothills of the Doddabetta Peak.
The Botanical Garden Ooty offers people a chance to come face to face with a variety of flowering plants, shrubs, herbal plants, bonsai plants, fruit trees, and other flora that one might not get to see in daily life. There is also a fossilized tree trunk among the other botanical garden plants that have been estimated to be almost 20 million years old. There are several separate lawns at the Botanical Garden in Ooty, dedicated to different collections of plants. For instance, there is one dedicated solely to medical plants, and one for ferns and flowers laid out in Italian style. The main such lawns are Lower Garden, New Garden, The Conservatory, Italian Garden, and The Nurseries. This botanical garden in Ooty Tamil Nadu is a great place for people to spend time at, wandering around and enjoying the bounties of nature. Lower Garden: The lower garden consists of Kikuyu grass, spread across like a gorgeous green carpet. The highlight of the lower garden is the stunning design of the Indian Union made with different varieties of plants, flowers, and trees.
Italian Garden: Italian Garden was laid down by the Italian prisoners of World War. This part of the garden follows typical Italian lay-out and looks astoundingly gorgeous.
New Garden: The new garden mainly consists of a wide variety of roses and its hybrids. A huge part of the land is covered under colorful, vibrant, and fragrant rose flowers and also, has a small pond.
Nurseries: The Botanical garden in Ooty is also home to nurseries that breed and conserve exotic plants.

There is also an Ooty botanical garden flower show that is a must-visit when here. It is held in the month of May, with the entire garden riotously colored with a variety of flowers.
