The Botanical Garden Ooty offers people a chance to come face to face with a variety of flowering plants, shrubs, herbal plants, bonsai plants, fruit trees, and other flora that one might not get to see in daily life. There is also a fossilized tree trunk among the other botanical garden plants that have been estimated to be almost 20 million years old. There are several separate lawns at the Botanical Garden in Ooty, dedicated to different collections of plants. For instance, there is one dedicated solely to medical plants, and one for ferns and flowers laid out in Italian style. The main such lawns are Lower Garden, New Garden, The Conservatory, Italian Garden, and The Nurseries. Italian Garden: Italian Garden was laid down by the Italian prisoners of World War. This part of the garden follows typical Italian lay-out and looks astoundingly gorgeous.
New Garden: The new garden mainly consists of a wide variety of roses and its hybrids. A huge part of the land is covered under colorful, vibrant, and fragrant rose flowers and also, has a small pond.
Nurseries: The Botanical garden in Ooty is also home to nurseries that breed and conserve exotic plants.

There is also an Ooty botanical garden flower show that is a must-visit when here. It is held in the month of May, with the entire garden riotously colored with a variety of flowers.
