Hot Springs In Krabi

Hot Springs in Krabi (the Hot Stream Waterfall, or Namtok Ron)

The Krabi hot springs are a run of warm, mineral-rich pools locally called the Hot Stream Waterfall, or Namtok Ron, inside the Khao Phra Bang Khram Nature Reserve near Klong Thom. They sit about 55 km south of Krabi Town, roughly a 50-minute drive, so most peop...

Snorkelling In Krabi

Krabi is one of the best places in Thailand to put your face in the water and just look. The province sits on the Andaman coast, ringed by limestone-cliff islands like Phi Phi, Poda and the Hong group, where white-sand beaches drop into clear, shallow water over living coral. Most of the good reef is a short longtail or spe...

Scuba Diving In Krabi

Scuba diving in Krabi puts you over some of the warmest, clearest water in the Andaman Sea, and you do not need a licence to start. A Discover Scuba session lets a total first-timer breathe underwater with an instructor from around Rs 8,550, while certified divers boat out to blue-water sites like Hin Daeng and the King Cru...

Rock Climbing In Krabi

Rock climbing in Krabi is the reason climbers fly to Thailand from all over the world. More than 700 bolted routes run along the sheer limestone karst of the Andaman coast, and the two beaches at the heart of it, Railay and Tonsai, are where Thai sport climbing was born. You can rope up for the first time on an easy 5a with...

Krabi is where Thailand's Andaman coast turns dramatic. Limestone cliffs rise straight out of turquoise water, longtail boats ferry you to beaches you can only reach by sea, and a 45-minute climb up a jungle staircase ends at a hilltop Buddha with the whole province at your feet. This guide lists 18 of the best things to do in Krabi in 2026, grouped so you can plan fast: the islands and beaches everyone comes for, the water and climbing adventures, the temples and waterfalls inland, and the Thai experiences you should not skip. Every item carries an approximate India-rupee cost, so you can budget a Krabi trip in numbers you actually use, not just baht.

Islands and beaches: 4-Island tour, Phi Phi, Hong Islands, Railay and Ao Nang

This is why most people come to Krabi. The coast is a scatter of limestone islands, hidden lagoons and cliff-backed beaches, and half the fun is the boat ride out. Do at least one island-hopping day; two if you have the time.

4-Island hopping tour. The classic Krabi day out visits Phra Nang Cave Beach, Chicken Island (Koh Kai), Tup Island and Poda Island, with a sandbar at low tide that lets you walk between islets. A longtail-boat tour runs about Rs 2,600 to Rs 3,400 per person; a speedboat costs a little more and gets you there faster. The marine-park fee is usually charged separately at the pier, so keep some baht handy. "Take the longtail over the speedboat if you can, you spend longer at each stop and the ride itself is half the experience," says our Krabi operations lead.

Koh Phi Phi and Maya Bay. The most famous islands in the Andaman sit an hour south by speedboat. Maya Bay, the cove from The Beach, has reopened with rules: you cannot swim in the bay and you enter on a timed slot, so it works best as part of a guided day trip. Reckon on Rs 3,400 to Rs 5,400. If you want the islands in depth, read our Ko Phi Phi Le guide and Maya Bay guide.

Hong Islands. Quieter than Phi Phi, the Hong archipelago is built around a shallow emerald lagoon you paddle or swim into, ringed by cliffs. It is a good pick if the 4-Island route feels too busy. A tour is roughly Rs 2,850 to Rs 4,300.

Railay and Phra Nang Beach. Railay is a peninsula cut off from the mainland by cliffs, so you reach it only by a 10 to 15 minute longtail from Ao Nang (about Rs 300 to Rs 600 return). Phra Nang, on its southern tip, is regularly rated one of Thailand's finest beaches, complete with a cave shrine and cliffs that climbers scale overhead. See the full Railay Beach guide before you go.

Ao Nang. The mainland beach town is Krabi's base camp: the departure point for most boat tours, and where the walking street fills with seafood grills, bars and massage shops after dark. It is free to wander, and you only pay for what you eat and buy. For the wider list of beaches and viewpoints, see places to visit in Krabi.

Water and adventure: snorkelling, scuba diving, rock climbing and sea kayaking

Krabi's landscape is built for adventure, and you do not need to be an athlete for any of it. These are the experiences travellers remember longest.

Snorkelling. Most island tours include a snorkel stop, but the clearest water is around Phi Phi, Bamboo Island and the Hong group. Bring a mask if you have one; rental gear is usually included but rarely a great fit. Our snorkelling in Krabi guide covers the best sites and seasons.

Scuba diving. Ao Nang's dive shops run morning boats out to sites like the King Cruiser wreck and Koh Ha, and a beginner's Discover Scuba (no licence needed) runs about Rs 8,500 to Rs 9,700 for two dives, back on the beach by afternoon. It is one of the few Krabi activities the top blogs barely mention, and it is genuinely good. Details on our scuba diving in Krabi guide.

Rock climbing at Railay. Railay is one of the world's great climbing spots, with hundreds of bolted routes on the limestone above the beach. Half-day beginner courses with a guide and gear cost about Rs 2,300 to Rs 2,850, and no experience is needed. See our rock climbing in Krabi guide.

Sea kayaking at Ao Thalane. For a calm-water adventure, paddle the mangrove channels and sea caves of Ao Thalane or Ban Bho Tho, where the cliffs close in overhead and you often spot monkeys and mudskippers. A guided trip is around Rs 850 to Rs 1,700 and suits families.

Temples, waterfalls and viewpoints inland

Leave the coast for a day and Krabi changes character: jungle, hot springs, waterfalls and a temple climb that doubles as the best viewpoint in the province.

Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea). About 10 km from Krabi Town, this working forest monastery is famous for its 1,260-step staircase up a 309-metre karst peak to a golden Buddha and a 360-degree view over Krabi. The climb takes 45 minutes to an hour and is genuinely steep, so start early, carry water and dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered). Entry is free; a donation is welcome.

Emerald Pool and Blue Pool. In the Khlong Thom forest inland, the Emerald Pool is a clear, warm spring-fed pool you can swim in, with the deeper, mineral-blue Blue Pool a short walk on (look, do not swim). Foreign-visitor entry is about Rs 1,140, and most people pair it with the hot springs as a half-day tour.

Klong Thom hot springs. Nearby, natural thermal streams have carved smooth stone tubs where you soak in 35 to 40 C water in the middle of the jungle. It is a lovely counterpoint to a cold-water swim at the Emerald Pool. See our hot springs in Krabi guide for timings and how to combine them.

Than Bok Khorani National Park and waterfalls. North of Ao Nang, this park hides emerald ponds, mangrove trails and, in the wider province, waterfalls like Huay To in Khao Phanom Bencha. It is a good rainy-season pick, when the falls are fullest, though the trails get slippery.

Khao Ngon Nak (Dragon Crest) viewpoint hike. The best free thing to do in Krabi is this 3.7 km jungle trail near Tubkaek that climbs to a rock ledge jutting over the coastline, with island views that rival any paid attraction. Give it two to three hours return and go early to beat the heat.

Thai experiences: cooking class, night market, Muay Thai and more

Beyond the sights, these are the hands-on experiences that turn a Krabi trip into a Thailand trip.

Thai cooking class. Half-day classes in Ao Nang and Krabi Town start with a market walk, then teach you three or four dishes (green curry, pad thai, mango sticky rice) that you eat afterwards. Reckon on Rs 2,850 to Rs 4,300 including the market tour.

Krabi Town Night Market. On weekend evenings, the Maharaj and riverside walking streets fill with grilled seafood, noodle stalls, live music and cheap souvenirs. Entry is free and you eat well for a few hundred rupees. See our Krabi Town Night Market guide.

Muay Thai and Thai massage. Ao Nang stadiums run live Muay Thai fight nights (a seat is roughly Rs 2,300 to Rs 4,300), and an hour of proper Thai massage on the beach road costs about Rs 850, a fraction of the price back home. Do the massage after the Tiger Cave climb.

ATV and an ethical elephant sanctuary. Inland operators run ATV rides through rubber plantations, and several sanctuaries let you feed and bathe rescued elephants without riding them (choose a no-riding, ethical camp). Both fill an easy half-day and are popular with families.

Best time to visit and getting around Krabi

Best time to visit. The sweet spot is November to March, when the Andaman coast is dry, the sea is calm and the islands are at their best; December to February is the pick of it. April and May are hot, and June to October is the monsoon, when short heavy showers, rougher seas and the occasional cancelled boat trip are the trade-off for lower prices and greener jungle. September and October are the wettest. For a month-by-month breakdown, see the best time to visit Krabi guide.

Getting there and around. Krabi International Airport (KBV) connects to Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, and most Indian travellers route via Bangkok or Phuket. On the ground, Ao Nang and Krabi Town are linked by cheap songthaews (shared pickups), longtail boats handle the beach hops, and renting a scooter or hiring a taxi covers the inland sights. Full routing is on the how to reach Krabi guide.

What a Krabi trip costs from India (in rupees)

Here is the honest math for Indian travellers. Krabi runs a little pricier than Bangkok because the best experiences are boat tours, but it is still excellent value, and you control the spend by how many island days you book.

Budget style Per person / day (excl. flights & hotel) What it covers
Backpacker Rs 2,000-3,500 Street food, one island tour or hike, songthaew travel
Comfort Rs 5,000-8,000 A boat tour or dive, a sit-down meal, a class or massage
Premium Rs 12,000+ Private speedboat, resort dining, spa, guided tours

A typical 5-day Krabi trip from India, flights and mid-range hotel included, lands in a wide band depending on season and how far ahead you book. The simplest way to lock a number is to compare customised quotes: see Thailand tour packages, where flights, transfers, stay and the experiences above are bundled into one price.

Hey Travel Trail, Dear Yugal I hope this review finds you in high spirits! I wanted to take a moment to express my utmost gratitude for organizing the most incredible trip to Thailand. From start to finish, every aspect of the journey was meticulously planned, and I couldn't have asked for a bett
er experience. First and foremost, the hotel you recommended was an absolute gem! The Golden Tulip was a true oasis in the heart of Thailand. The check-in process was seamless. The accommodation itself was beyond my expectations.I really love the swimming pool and the buffet breakfast. Beyond the hotel, the itinerary you crafted for us was diverse and captivating. From exploring the bustling streets of Bangkok to immersing myself in the natural wonders of Phuket, every destination left an indelible mark on my heart. I will undoubtedly recommend your travel agency to my friends, family, and colleagues who are seeking an extraordinary travel experience. Your attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to customer satisfaction are truly commendable. Once again, thank you for making my Thailand trip so special. Yugal was our travel agent. He was always available from the day we booked the trip till we completed our trip. He was always a call away and was helpful to resolve all the queries. His commitment was commendable. We took 4 night 5 days package. The hotels we stayed were fortunately good. Cab serv
ices were not as much cooperative as expected. I would suggest to include most imp tourist spots of bangkok/pattaya in basic package itself. Like we had a bangkok city tour in our package but reclining budha/watarun temple was not part of it. Better to have it included in basic packages which would improve customer satisfaction. But overall it was a good and hustle free experience.

    Krabi Travel FAQs

    What is Krabi famous for?

Krabi is famous for its limestone karst scenery and its islands: the 4-Island hopping tour, Railay and Phra Nang beaches, Koh Phi Phi and the Hong Islands. On land it is known for the 1,260-step Tiger Cave Temple climb, the Emerald Pool and hot springs inland, and world-class rock climbing on the cliffs at Railay. It is the Andaman coast at its most dramatic, and quieter than Phuket.

How many days do you need in Krabi?

Three to four days covers the essentials without rushing: one or two island-hopping days, a day inland for the Tiger Cave Temple and Emerald Pool, and time to slow down on Railay or Ao Nang beach. Two days is enough for a single island tour and one land day. Most Indian travellers give Krabi 3 nights and pair it with Phuket, which is why a 5-day, 4-night trip is the most common length we plan.

    Is Krabi worth visiting?

Yes. Krabi packs islands, cliff beaches, temples and forest pools into one compact area, with fewer crowds and lower prices than Phuket. If you want boat trips, swimming and a relaxed base for four to five days, it is one of the best-value beach destinations in Thailand.

What are the best things to do in Krabi at night?

Ao Nang is the hub after dark: its walking street is lined with seafood grills, cocktail bars and massage shops, and nearby stadiums run live Muay Thai fight nights. Krabi Town has a weekend night market with street food and live music, and Railay has a low-key bar scene with fire shows on the beach. For a quieter evening, book a sunset longtail cruise around the islands.

    Is Krabi better than Phuket?

They suit different trips. Krabi is calmer, more scenic and better for nature, climbing and island hopping, with fewer crowds and a lower average spend. Phuket has the bigger nightlife, more resorts and direct flights. Many travellers do both, since they are a short ferry or drive apart, which is exactly why Krabi plus Phuket is our most-booked Andaman combination.

What is the best time to visit Krabi?

November to March is the best window: dry, calm and every tour running. June to October is cheaper but wetter, with rougher seas that can cancel boats. See our best time to visit Krabi guide for a month-by-month breakdown.

How do you get around Krabi?

Krabi International Airport connects via Bangkok, Phuket and a few regional cities. On the ground, shared songthaew pickups link Krabi Town and Ao Nang cheaply, longtail boats handle the beach and island hops, and a rented scooter or a hired taxi covers the inland sights like the Tiger Cave Temple and Emerald Pool. For full routing and airport transfers, see the how to reach Krabi guide linked above.
