Amazing's 6 days trip to Krabi

Hey Travel Trail, Dear Yugal I hope this review finds you in high spirits! I wanted to take a moment to express my utmost gratitude for organizing the most incredible trip to Thailand. From start to finish, every aspect of the journey was meticulously planned, and I couldn't have asked for a bett
er experience. First and foremost, the hotel you recommended was an absolute gem! The Golden Tulip was a true oasis in the heart of Thailand. The check-in process was seamless. The accommodation itself was beyond my expectations.I really love the swimming pool and the buffet breakfast. Beyond the hotel, the itinerary you crafted for us was diverse and captivating. From exploring the bustling streets of Bangkok to immersing myself in the natural wonders of Phuket, every destination left an indelible mark on my heart. I will undoubtedly recommend your travel agency to my friends, family, and colleagues who are seeking an extraordinary travel experience. Your attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to customer satisfaction are truly commendable. Once again, thank you for making my Thailand trip so special. I look forward to embarking on another adventure with your agency in the future! Shivani's 5 days trip to Krabi

Yugal was our travel agent. He was always available from the day we booked the trip till we completed our trip. He was always a call away and was helpful to resolve all the queries. His commitment was commendable. We took 4 night 5 days package. The hotels we stayed were fortunately good. Cab serv
ices were not as much cooperative as expected. I would suggest to include most imp tourist spots of bangkok/pattaya in basic package itself. Like we had a bangkok city tour in our package but reclining budha/watarun temple was not part of it. Better to have it included in basic packages which would improve customer satisfaction. But overall it was a good and hustle free experience.

      FAQs Packages

Is Maya Bay open in 2026?

Yes. Maya Bay reopened after its long closure and now runs on timed entry with a daily visitor cap, so it is open daily through most of the year. The exception is an annual reef-recovery closure that usually falls around August and September, reopening on 1 October. Those dates are set by announcement and can shift, so confirm the current season before you plan a monsoon trip. Outside that window, it is open through the day.

What country is Maya Bay in?

Maya Bay is in Thailand. It sits on the small, uninhabited island of Ko Phi Phi Leh, in Krabi province, in the Andaman Sea off the southern coast. It is part of the Phi Phi group and protected as part of Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park. The nearest mainland launch points for a day trip are Krabi and Ao Nang, with Phuket a little further away.

Can you swim at Maya Bay?

Not inside the bay itself. To protect the recovering reef and the blacktip reef sharks that have returned, swimming and snorkelling in Maya Bay are banned. You can wade in the shallows, and tour boats stop for a proper swim in the water just outside the bay. Plan for a walk on the sand and photographs rather than a swim in the famous cove. Rangers enforce this rule.

How much is the Maya Bay entry fee, in rupees?

The national park fee is about 400 THB for a foreign adult, roughly Rs 1,140, and about 200 THB for a child, around Rs 570, at close to Rs 2.85 to the baht. It is usually collected in cash at the pier and is often not included in cheaper tour prices, so carry it in Thai baht. Check the current figure on the entry fees page, since park fees change by announcement.

How do you get to Maya Bay from Krabi?

Only by boat, as part of an organised Phi Phi islands day trip or a private charter. From Krabi or Ao Nang the crossing is about an hour by speedboat, and tours usually pair Maya Bay with Pileh Lagoon and a snorkel stop. You cannot take a scheduled ferry straight to Maya Bay or reach it on your own. Take the earliest departure you can to beat the mid-morning crowds.

      Why was Maya Bay closed?

It was loved to death. After the film The Beach made it famous in 2000, thousands of visitors and hundreds of boats arrived daily, and anchors and fins destroyed most of the coral. In 2018 the authorities closed the bay to let the reef and marine life recover. It stayed shut until 2022 and reopened with strict limits: no boats on the sand, no swimming in the bay, timed entry and a daily cap.

Is there food or a shop on Maya Bay?

No. Maya Bay is a protected national park cove with no restaurants, no stalls and no shops, and the old gift kiosk from the film era is gone. There is nowhere to buy food or drink on the beach, so carry your own water and any snacks, and take all your rubbish back with you. Most day tours include lunch on the boat or at another stop, not at Maya Bay.

Can you light a fire, camp or stay overnight at Maya Bay?

No to all three. Fires and barbecues are banned, camping is not allowed, and nobody sleeps on Ko Phi Phi Leh, which is an uninhabited national park island. Everyone visits on a day trip and leaves. If you want to be close to Maya Bay for an early start, stay overnight on Phi Phi Don, the larger neighbouring island, or base yourself in Krabi, Ao Nang or Phuket and come across for the day.

What is the best time to visit Maya Bay?

November to April, when the Andaman Sea is calm and clear and boats run reliably. December to March gives the best water clarity for snorkelling at the nearby stops. Avoid the southwest monsoon months of May to October for rough seas and cancellations, and in particular avoid the annual closure around August and September when the bay itself is shut. Within the good season, the earliest boat of the day is always the best.

Is Maya Bay worth visiting now, with all the rules?

Yes, for most people. It is busier and more controlled than the film-era beach, and you cannot swim in the cove, but the setting of pale sand under 100-metre cliffs is still extraordinary, and the rules mean cleaner water and a healthier reef than a decade ago. Go early, treat it as one stop on a wider island day that includes Pileh Lagoon and a snorkel, and it earns its place on a Krabi trip.
