Compare Kufri Tour Packages
Most Kufri trips are built as a Shimla base with Kufri as the snow-and-adventure day, then extended with Fagu, Chail or Manali depending on how many nights you have. Here is how the main circuits compare so you can pick the one that fits your dates and budget, then customise it.
| Package | Nights | Price from (pp) | Best for | Key inclusions |

| Shimla Kufri Getaway | 2N / 3D | Rs 11,000* | First-timers, couples | 3-star stay, breakfast, private cab, Kufri day trip, Mall Road |

Every package is customisable. You can change the hotel category, add or drop a night, or swap the vehicle, and get a fresh quote in a few hours. See the Shimla Chail Kufri tour, the Manali Kufri tour, or the Kufri tour from Delhi for ready fixed-departure options.
Kufri Trip Cost and Ideal Duration
A Kufri trip almost always runs as part of a Shimla holiday, so the cost you plan for is really the cost of a short Shimla-Kufri circuit. A 2 nights, 3 days package with a 3-star hotel, breakfast, a private cab and the Kufri day trip starts from about Rs 11,000 per person on twin sharing. Move up to a premium hotel or add Chail or Fagu and a family of four lands around Rs 14,500 to Rs 16,000 per head. Peak snow weeks in late December and January cost more, and July to September is the cheapest window because rain thins the crowds.
On duration, two to three days is the sweet spot. Kufri itself is a half-day of sightseeing, so one full day covers Mahasu Peak, the Himalayan Nature Park and the toboggan slopes, while a second and third day let you fold in Shimla's Mall Road, Chail or the orchards at Fagu. Stretch to five or six nights only if you are combining Kufri with Manali on a wider Himachal circuit.
Shimla and Kufri Combined Packages
Shimla and Kufri are booked together far more often than Kufri alone. They sit 20 km apart on the same road, share the same airport and railhead, and the usual plan is two nights in Shimla with a full Kufri day in the middle. That single itinerary gives you Shimla's colonial Mall Road, Christ Church and the Ridge, plus Kufri's snow, skiing and the pony ride up Mahasu Peak. Families usually add Chail, the highest cricket ground in the world, while couples add Naldehra or the apple-orchard belt at Fagu.
If you are starting from a specific city, the Kufri tour from Delhi and the Shimla Chail Kufri tour are the most-booked routes. For a longer trip, the Manali Kufri tour pairs the snow of Kufri with Manali and the Atal Tunnel. You can also browse the full range of Himachal tour packages if you want to build a wider circuit.
Best Time to Visit Kufri
Winter (November to March), for snow and skiing
Kufri is under snow from about mid-December to March, and this is when it is at its best and its busiest. Temperatures drop below zero, the slopes open for skiing and tobogganing, and the Winter Sports Festival runs in February. Book early for the late-December and January weeks, and carry heavy woollens and snow boots. This is the season most travellers picture when they plan a Kufri trip.
Summer (April to June), for a cool escape
Summers in Kufri are mild, roughly 12 to 19 degrees Celsius, and the meadows turn green. It is the easiest season to travel with children or older parents, the roads are clear, and the Summer Festival celebrates local Pahari culture and craft. This is peak family-holiday season, so it pairs well with a full Shimla-Kufri circuit.
Monsoon (July to October), for quiet and value
Monsoon rainfall in Kufri is modest and rarely disrupts travel, and temperatures hover around 10 degrees Celsius. Crowds thin out and packages are at their cheapest, which makes it a good window for a budget trip if you do not mind occasional showers and a lower chance of clear mountain views. For a month-by-month breakdown, see our Kufri destination guide.
How to Reach Kufri
By air
The nearest major airport is Chandigarh, about 116 km away, with a 4 to 5 hour drive up to Kufri. Shimla has a small domestic airport at Jubbarhatti, about 33 km from Kufri, with limited flights. Most travellers fly into Chandigarh and continue by private cab, which every package includes.
By train
The scenic Kalka to Shimla toy train and regular trains to Shimla run daily from Kalka, which connects to Delhi and Chandigarh. Kufri is about 20 km beyond Shimla railway station, a 45-minute drive by cab.
By road
Kufri sits on the Shimla to Rampur highway (NH 5), so it is an easy drive from Shimla bus stand, and Himachal Roadways (HRTC) buses connect Shimla to Kufri and Fagu through the day. From Delhi it is roughly a 350 km, 9 to 10 hour drive via Chandigarh and Shimla.
Places to Visit and Things to Do in Kufri
Himalayan Nature Park
Also called Kufri Zoo, this 90-hectare park protects native Himalayan wildlife including the rare Himalayan monal, snow leopard, musk deer and brown bear, alongside more than 180 bird species. Short, easy trails run through the deodar forest, and it is the single most-visited stop in Kufri.
Mahasu Peak
Kufri's highest point, reached on foot or by pony through deodar forest, opens up wide views of the snow-capped Pir Panjal range. The Nag Devta Temple sits near the top, and in winter the slope below becomes a beginner-friendly ski and toboggan run.
Green Valley and Fagu
On the road towards Fagu and Chail, Green Valley is the classic photo stop, a deep, forested bowl framed by pines that is often the first place travellers see snow. Fagu, 6 km on, is quieter still, ringed by apple orchards and popular for skiing in winter and picnics in summer, with yak and pony rides on offer.
Mashobra
Just off the Shimla-Kufri road, Mashobra is a calm forest getaway around the Presidential Retreat and the Craignano garden terraces. Many Shimla-Kufri packages add it as a half-day for travellers who want orchards and forest walks away from the crowds.
Kufri Fun World and Indira Tourist Park
Kufri Fun World is an amusement park with rides for children and one of the highest go-karting tracks in the country, which makes it a reliable stop for families. The nearby Indira Tourist Park has cafes, yak and pony rides and viewpoints, and works well as an easy first stop before the longer Mahasu climb.
Things to do in Kufri
Kufri is one of India's best-known snow-sport spots, and the activities are the reason most people come.
• Tobogganing, that needs no training and runs from about mid-December to early February on the gentle slopes below Mahasu Peak.
• Skiing and snowboarding on the Mahasu slopes in winter, with instructors and gear available on the spot for beginners.
• Horse and pony rides up to Mahasu Peak, the most popular ride in Kufri, plus yak rides at Fagu and Green Valley.
• Zip-lining and short zip-line runs at the adventure points near Kufri Fun World for an easy adrenaline hit with children.
• Trekking and nature walks through pine and oak forest towards Fagu and the Chail hills, best in the clear post-monsoon months.
