Places to Visit on Your Manali Tour
Most packages build the sightseeing around this shortlist. Tell your planner which of these matter and the itinerary is shaped to fit.
• Solang Valley. The adventure hub, about 14 km from town. Paragliding, zorbing, zip-lining and the cable car run in summer; it turns into a ski and snow-scooter field once the snow arrives.
• Rohtang Pass. A high snow pass that holds snow for much of the year and draws crowds for snowboarding and snow rides. It needs an online permit and closes for maintenance one day a week, so most packages plan it a day ahead.
• Atal Tunnel. The modern Manali headliner, opened in 2020. At 9.02 km it is one of the world's longest high-altitude highway tunnels and gives all-weather access to the Lahaul valley and Sissu in under an hour. The tunnel and Sissu do not need the Rohtang permit, which is why many 2026 itineraries now use this route.
• Hidimba Devi Temple. A 16th-century cedar-wood pagoda temple set in a deodar grove near town, dedicated to Hidimba Devi. Its unusual tiered roof is the reason it is on almost every Manali route.
• Old Manali and Mall Road. Mall Road is the walking strip of cafes, woollen shops and eateries; Old Manali, across the river, is the laid-back cafe and guesthouse quarter. Both are best explored on foot.
• Bhrigu Lake. An alpine lake at about 4,300 m, roughly 20 km of trekking away, pale blue in summer and snow-ringed in winter. The trek is best from June to September.
• Beas Kund. The glacial source of the Beas river and a popular camping trek, with clear night skies. It carries a Hindu legend that Sage Vyas bathed here after meditation.
• Van Vihar and Manali National Park. A deodar and cedar forest walk on the banks of the Beas, calm and easy to reach. Best from May to October; carry binoculars for the birdlife.
• Himalayan Nyingmapa Tibetan Monastery. A quiet, working Tibetan monastery in town. Entry is free; there is a small Rs 20 charge if you want to photograph inside.
• Museum of Himachal Culture and Folk Art. A compact museum of Himachali artifacts, handicrafts, instruments and traditional dress, good for an hour if you want the cultural context.
• Arjun Gufa. A cave linked to the Pandava legend of Arjun's meditation, for travellers who like a bit of history and myth on the drive.
Things to Do in Manali
Manali is where most Himachal trips get their adventure day. The staples: paragliding and zorbing at Solang, white-water rafting on the Beas near Pirdi, skiing and snow rides in winter, mountain biking, jeep safaris up to Rohtang, and a soak in the sulphur hot springs at Vashisht. Trekkers use it as a base for Bhrigu Lake, Beas Kund and the Hampta Pass crossing.
For the full activity guide, seasons and operators, see our Himachal travel guide.
Best Time to Visit Manali
October to February is the snow window and the busiest season, with skiing and snow scooters at Solang and Rohtang. March to June brings pleasant days and is the sweet spot for paragliding, rafting and trekking. July to mid-September is the monsoon, when landslides and downpours are common and footfall drops, so most travellers skip it. If you are chasing snow in early summer, the higher reaches around Rohtang and the Atal Tunnel side usually hold snow into May.
How to Reach Manali
By air
There are no direct flights into Manali itself. The nearest airport is Kullu-Manali (Bhuntar, KUU), about 50 km away with flights from Delhi and Chandigarh, and roughly a 2-hour cab transfer into town. Many travellers instead fly to Chandigarh and drive up, which has far more flight options.
By road
The classic approach is the overnight Volvo from Delhi, about 12 to 14 hours, which most packages can include. Self-drive and private taxis are easy to arrange; the hill sections have sharp bends, so an experienced hill driver matters. State and private buses run through the day as well.
By train
There is no convenient direct railhead. Joginder Nagar is the closest station at about 163 km but has limited connectivity via Pathankot. In practice most travellers take a train to Chandigarh or Ambala and continue by road from there.
Why Book Your Manali Package With TravelTriangle
TravelTriangle connects you with a network of verified local Himachal agents, so you are booking with operators who run the Manali route week after week, not a faceless call centre. Every itinerary is fully customisable: change the hotel category, add or drop a day, or route in Shimla and Kullu. Pricing is transparent per person, the reviews on this page come from real bookers (4.1/5 across 2,585 trips), and 24/7 support stays with you through the trip. More than 40 lakh travellers have planned trips with us since 2011.
What Travellers Say
Recent Manali trips booked through TravelTriangle range from 3-night weekends to 8-night family circuits, planned by travellers like Swapna, Narayanan, Sudatta and Pritam. Across 2,585 reviews the page holds a 4.1/5 rating, and the itinerary each traveller ran is customisable end to end.
Manali Packages From Other Cities and For Every Traveller
Book Manali packages from your own city, with airport or station transfers built in: from Delhi, from Mumbai, from Bangalore, and from Chennai. Travelling for a specific reason? Head straight to Manali honeymoon packages, family packages, or combine hill stations with Kullu Manali packages.
How to Choose the Right Manali Package
• By who you are travelling with. Couples usually want the honeymoon set with private cabs and a candlelight dinner; families lean on the family packages with gentler days and Solang for the kids.
• By budget. A weekend break starts around Rs 5,527 per person; add nights, a premium hotel or private transfers and the fare climbs. Set the budget first and the planner works within it.
• By duration. Two nights covers town, Hadimba and one Solang day. Four to five nights adds Rohtang or the Atal Tunnel and Kullu. Six to seven nights is what you want if you are pairing Shimla with Manali.
• By season. Book October to February if snow is the point, March to June if you want adventure sports and clear passes. Our Himachal guide has the month-by-month detail.
What to Carry on Your Manali Trip
Pack for altitude and cold, even in summer. Layered woollens and a windproof jacket for October to February, thermals and gloves if Rohtang or high snow is on the plan, waterproof shoes with grip, sunscreen and sunglasses for the strong mountain sun, a power bank because the network thins out towards Rohtang and Lahaul, your ID, any Rohtang permit printout, and cash for local ferry, permit and parking counters.

FAQs About Manali Tour Packages
What is the price of a Himachal tour package?
Himachal packages start at ₹8,500 per person for a 2 nights / 3 days break and rise with trip length and hotel category. A 4N/5D Shimla-Manali trip typically runs ₹12,000-₹15,000 per person, while a full 9-10 night circuit is around ₹34,500 upward. A week-long trip averages roughly ₹15,000 per person. Every price is customisable to your dates, group size and stay preference.
What is included in a Himachal tour package?
A standard package covers hotel stays, daily breakfast (and some other meals depending on the plan), a private cab for sightseeing and transfers, and the listed activities and entry tickets. Flights or trains to the gateway, personal expenses and anything marked optional are usually extra. The exact inclusions are confirmed in writing before you pay.
Can I customise my Himachal tour package?
Yes. Every package here is a starting point. You can change the towns, the number of nights, the hotel category and the pace, or build an offbeat route through Spiti, Tirthan or Kinnaur. Tell us what you want and a verified agent sends a tailored quote.
How do I plan a 5-day or 7-day Himachal trip?
For 5 days, a Shimla-Kufri-Manali-Solang loop is the comfortable classic. For 7 days, add Dharamshala and McLeodganj, or swap in Dalhousie and Khajjiar. If Spiti is on your list, plan a dedicated 7-plus-day loop for it rather than combining it with the main hill stations, as the drives are long.
How much does a tour to Himachal Pradesh cost?
Your budget depends entirely on where you go, how long you stay and your hotel category. An average week-long trip works out to roughly ₹15,000 per person. Himachal has both luxury and pocket-friendly options, and you can have the package customised to your budget.
How many days are required for an ideal Himachal tour?
An ideal Himachal tour runs anywhere from 5 nights 6 days to 10 nights 11 days, because the state's terrain, culture and cuisine are so varied. As a rough guide: Shimla 2 days, Manali 2 days, Spiti 3 days, Kullu 1 day, Dalhousie 1 day, Dharamshala 3 days, Kasol 2 days, Kasauli 2 days, Sangla Valley 2 days and Parvati Valley 2 days. Plan around the experience you want.
What is the best time to visit Himachal Pradesh?
The best time is February to June, when the weather is pleasant. If you want the winter experience with snowfall, plan between late December and February. July to September is monsoon and best avoided for high-altitude drives because of landslide risk.
Which place is called the Mini Switzerland of India?
Khajjiar, near Dalhousie, is called the mini Switzerland of India for its round green meadow ringed by cedar forest, with a small lake at its centre. Dalhousie itself is often described the same way. Both feature in Dalhousie-Khajjiar packages, and Khajjiar runs paragliding, horse riding and zorbing in season.
Which are the most beautiful lakes to visit in Himachal?
Prashar Lake near Mandi, Chandratal in Spiti, Khajjiar Lake near Dalhousie, Renuka Lake in Sirmaur, and Dal Lake and Kareri Lake near Dharamshala are the most loved. Chandratal and Prashar are high-altitude and best visited in summer, while the Dharamshala lakes are reachable most of the year.
Which are the famous treks in Himachal?
The best-known treks are Triund above McLeodganj (an easy weekend walk), Kheerganga and Sar Pass out of Kasol, Hampta Pass linking Kullu to Spiti, and the Bhrigu Lake and Beas Kund treks near Manali. Summer to early autumn is the main trekking window; winter treks like Kedarkantha are for the experienced.
Which are the top attractions in Himachal Pradesh?
Top picks include Spiti Valley for monasteries and stark high-altitude views, Solang Valley and Rohtang Pass for snow and adventure, Chandratal for high trekking, Pin Valley National Park for wildlife, Khajjiar for green meadows, and Tirthan Valley for camping and river fishing. Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala and Dalhousie anchor most itineraries.
What is the best time for adventure activities in Himachal?
Summer, roughly March to July, is best for most adventure activities like paragliding, rafting, trekking and mountain biking. For sledging and skiing, the snow months of December to February are the right window.
What should I pack for a Himachal trip?
Pack layered woollens, a good pair of walking shoes, sunscreen, a fully charged power bank, a raincoat, snacks for long drives and enough cash for remote stretches. Add a torch, gloves, mosquito repellent and a lighter for treks or camping. In winter, carry proper heavy woollens and waterproof footwear.
Is Himachal a good backpacking destination?
Yes, Himachal is one of the best backpacking destinations in India. Easy travel connections, affordable stays, warm locals and beautiful landscapes make Kasol, Tosh, Bir and Tirthan popular bases for budget travellers.
