About One Pillar Pagoda in Hanoi
Located in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, One Pillar Pagoda is regarded to be one of the most significant temples of the country. The Pagoda is made out of wood on a single pillar of stone, which is 1.25 metre in diameter and 4 meters in height. Thus it got the name ‘one pillar’ pagoda. The design resembles a lotus blossom, which again, is a Buddhist symbol of purity. But it also has its roots in the One Pillar Pagoda history.
The temple was originally built by the Emperor Ly Thai Tong. Thus, One Pillar Pagoda architecture is featured with the Ly style of designs. The emperor Ly Thai Tong was the ruler between the years 1028 and 1054. The lack of a child and heir plagued Ly Thai Tong until one night in his dreams he met the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. He handed him a baby son while sitting in his serene posture on a lotus flower. After this, the emperor married, and his wife bore him a son, in gratitude for which he constructed the One Pillar Pagoda temple in 1049.
The temple itself has been renovated many times, but the most recent occurrence was in 1955 during the evacuation of France. If one visits Vietnam, One Pillar Pagoda in Hanoi is a site that should not be missed out on; given that it remains one of the most revered and respected sites, and has a beautiful garden which is the perfect place to indulge in tranquil contemplation. There is a shrine located inside the pagoda which is to worship the Vietnamese Buddhist deity Quan Am.
One of the major attractions in the pagoda is the famous Bo tree. It grows behind the pagoda and is said to be the offshoot of the Banyan tree under which Buddha attained enlightened in Bodh Gaya. The tree was gifted to Vietnam by Government of India as an act of goodwill in 1958.

Trip to HanoiThe trip was well organised but the guide at Cambodia was narrating less . The hotel room at Hanoi on the first night of our arrival on 15th night was not good but on 18th night it was very special. The day tour to Cu Chi Tunnels was not interesting. Overall had a good trip. The best memory was the stay at Ha Long Bay. But in future for indian tourist please try to arrange some Indian food. Though they served us vegetarian food as per our requirement but the taste was a problem and we just managed to eat just to fill our stomach. So if possible please arrange Indian food. Thanks.
Trip to HanoiTravel agent at Vietnam has given me 200% of satisfaction . Hannah Vu has professional treat To entertain customers. Indian Lunch at Hanoi
Trip to HanoiDidn't face any difficulty during the trip.Except for the hotel room for the first night in Hanoi everything else was well arranged. The country is beautiful and the people extremely nice.In the coming years Vietnam will become very popular with Indian tourists
Trip to HanoiHello, we completed our trip to Vietnam from 5th to 11th Aug 2019. We covered four destinations - Nha Trang, Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, and HCM City and took the services provided by S Viet Travels. We were coordinated by Ms. Hannah, who was probably the best part of S Viet services. Hannah is a proactive, reliable, responsive and sincere agent. No trip to a foreign destination gets completed without few hiccups, even our trip wasn't free from it. What we liked and appreciated was the way Hannah and her company responded to it. Their response was swift and responsible. I would definitely recommend S Viet Travels for others as well.
Trip to HanoiThanks for the wonderful holiday[ Hanoi,Sun World Fansipan Legend (Sapa) and Halong Bay..] Special thanks to Eric from Asia Authentic and Praveen TravelTriangle for the superb and hassle free arrangements.Keep up the good service.
Trip to HanoiI had travelled with my colleague to Hanoi and Hochi Minh. Eric and Rakhanda had beautifully arranged the trip for us and we had no problems. I liked the Hotel in Ho Chi Minh. The customised trip was very good. However, few tips regarding shopping may also be shared which helps. Trip to Halong Bay was very good. Although I was a vegetarian, food was not a problem on the Cruise. Few guidelines on Indian food may be shared with travellers as that helps. All the best! I will share your contacts with others.
Trip to HanoiWe have a very good experience with Mr. Karan. He was so helpful to resolve the issues with the Travel agent. The hotel room at Hanoi was not so good as told and advised by our Travel agent. All other things were fine. Overall our experience was good.
Trip to HanoiVietnam Thanks to Karan from TT for helping us choose the agent and also giving us a little discount :) Asia Authentic Travel - We had an amazing support and guidance from Eric all through the trip regarding anything and everything. They clarified the silliest of our doubts. Very well planned and everything was in our budget as the prices quoted were competitive. Thanks Eric for all the help. We had visited Hanoi(3 days including Halong Bay), Hoi An (2 days) and Saigon (HCMC 3 days including Mekong Delta). It got a little hectic as there was so much to cover but less time. We would have wanted to spend more time in Hoi An. All these 3 cities have so much to explore and different cultures that you would maybe want to dedicate a full week to these cities. Overall a good and satisfying trip.
Trip to HanoiMovenpick Hotel at Hanoi was below expectations. Window opened from bathroom to bedroom. Check in the second time was below standard. No swimming pool though it is called a 5 star
Trip to HanoiWe were looking forward to a fabulous time as a group of three. The bookings and the details had to be monitored carefully as there were a few glitches. The fact that we wanted Triple occupancy was overlooked in Hanoi else everything else was fabulous. it was clock work. The La Paci cruise was quite a disaster as the food requirements fr the vegetarians was completely overlooked. No safety drills were performed as promised and the Manager was completely in efficient. He took us to a bay which opened out into the ocean . This had danger signs everywhere which we were not aware of. Two of us got taken in by the tide in a kayak into the rough seas, The manage or lifeguard was nowhere in sight. We were stranded on high seas with no help. This was ridiculous !! absolutely unsafe and the attitude by the crew was atrocious. After paying a higher fare for this cruise this experience was totally undesirable. The trip to Mekong Delta was a more commercial trip in a Run down bus. Other than this everything else was very well organised.
