Centred on a three-pronged mountain summits, Ba Vi National Park in Hanoi is one of Vietnam’s most beautiful and picturesque landscapes. The cool mountain breeze, tropical rainforest environment and a veil of misty cloud make this place a perfect retreat of sorts.
The three mountain summits are Dinh Vua (1296 m), Tan Vien (1226 m) and Ngoc Hoa (1331 m), and together they form a fork-like crest at the top. It is not much visible from down below due to the fog but can be climbed for an exhilarating hiking experience. The most loved hiking route in Ba Vi National Park is the climb up the Tan Vien summit. It is preferred among the adventurists and pilgrims alike because of the 11th-century temple called Den Thuong, built by the Hung Kings and dedicated to the King of Heaven or the Mountain God. The views of the tropical vistas all around and Ba Vi National Park waterfall, veiled with a thin cloud is quite mesmerising.
There are other Ba Vi National Park hiking, walking and trekking trails here as well. The bird garden, the orchid garden and other places of medicinal plant cultivations can be explored on foot. However, the 30-minute climb up to the temple is the most exciting one. The walk itself is very rewarding. As an added bonus, one can get spectacular panoramic views of the Red River and its valley. If you visit during the spring season when the sky is absolutely clear, you can get a sparkling glimpse of entire Hanoi in the distance.
As a finishing touch after the Ba Vi National Park day trip, there is a Tan Da Spa Resort at the foot of the mountain that offers exotic mud baths, hot springs, steam baths, natural Jacuzzis and herbal baths for families and couples.
