How to Reach Vietnam from Hyderabad: Distance, Direct Flights and Visa (2026)

Both nonstops leave Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad's only airport, close to midnight and land before sunrise in Vietnam. If you read elsewhere that there are no direct flights from Hyderabad to Vietnam, that page is out of date. Both routes launched in 2025. Below are the flight days, fares, visa rules and the airport to pick for your itinerary.

Hyderabad to Vietnam Distance by Air and Road

Vietnam is a long, thin country, so the answer changes with the airport you land at. Phu Quoc, the island in the far south, is actually the closest point to Hyderabad. Nha Trang is the farthest of the five main airports, and only Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have a nonstop from RGIA.

We measured air distance as the great-circle distance between RGIA and each Vietnamese airport, calculated by our Vietnam desk from airport coordinates on 27 October 2026. Flight times are scheduled block times as of October 2026. One more number travellers ask for: Vietnam runs on UTC+7, so it is 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of Hyderabad. A 23:55 departure from RGIA lands at about 05:30 local time, which is the reason the flight feels shorter than the clock says. The distance is the same in reverse, from Vietnam to Hyderabad. Travellers from elsewhere in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh usually take a domestic flight or drive to RGIA to catch these nonstops, since no other airport in the two states flies to Vietnam.

Is There a Direct Flight from Hyderabad to Vietnam?

Yes. Six nonstop flights a week connect Hyderabad with Vietnam, split between two airlines. Both are overnight runs that leave RGIA close to midnight and reach Vietnam before sunrise.

Vietnam Airlines launched its Hyderabad to Hanoi service in May 2025, and VietJet's Ho Chi Minh City route started the same year, first twice a week and now three times. The return legs (VN985 from Hanoi, VJ1803 from Ho Chi Minh City) bring you back to Hyderabad the same evening. Schedules shift with the season, so check the airline site before you lock hotel dates.

The two carriers are not the same product. Vietnam Airlines is a full-service airline, so checked baggage and a meal are in the fare. VietJet is low-cost. Its headline fare covers a 7 kg cabin bag only, and checked baggage, seat selection and meals are paid extras.

Hyderabad to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City: Where Should You Land?

Pick the airport that matches the first half of your trip, not the cheaper ticket. Backtracking 1,100 km inside Vietnam costs a domestic flight and most of a day.

Land in Hanoi if your trip is about the north. Ha Long Bay is about 3 hours by road from Noi Bai, Ninh Binh about 2 hours, and Sapa about 5 hours or an overnight train. Most 5 to 7 night Vietnam itineraries start here. Our Hanoi travel guide covers the Old Quarter and day trips.

Land in Ho Chi Minh City for the Mekong Delta, the Cu Chi Tunnels and a south-to-north route. If you plan to see both ends of the country, book an open-jaw ticket: Hyderabad to Ho Chi Minh City on VietJet, then Hanoi back to Hyderabad on Vietnam Airlines. You fly the length of the country once, in the middle, on a 2-hour domestic hop.

Getting to Da Nang, Hoi An and Phu Quoc from Hyderabad

Neither has a nonstop from Hyderabad. For Da Nang and Hoi An, connect in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City; the domestic flight takes about 1 hour 20 minutes. You still clear immigration and customs in Hanoi, so plan to collect your bag and re-check it at the domestic terminal (allow at least 2 hours). One-Stop Flights and Connecting via Delhi or Mumbai

On days without a nonstop, you can fly with one stop. Thai Airways connects through Bangkok, AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines through Kuala Lumpur, Singapore Airlines through Singapore, and IndiGo flies to Bangkok and Singapore, where you can pick up a separate onward flight to Vietnam. Door to door this takes 7 to 13 hours. Even the quickest Bangkok connection, at about 6 hours 25 minutes, is two hours slower than either nonstop.

Delhi and Mumbai have more Vietnam flights than Hyderabad, so routing HYD to DEL or BOM and then on to Hanoi looks tempting. It rarely pays off. The domestic leg adds two to three hours on the ground, so it only makes sense when your travel dates don't match Hyderabad's nonstop days. Keep these rules for any connection:

• Book one ticket where you can. The airline then has to rebook you if the first leg runs late.

• On separate tickets, leave at least 3 hours between flights and plan to collect and re-check your bag.

• Baggage goes through to Vietnam only when both flights are on the same airline or alliance.

Hyderabad to Vietnam Flight Ticket Price

A one-way nonstop from Hyderabad to Vietnam usually costs INR 11,000 to INR 18,000 in economy. One-stop sale fares start at about INR 10,500, and December holiday dates go above INR 20,000.

March is usually the cheapest month to fly from Hyderabad to Vietnam, and December the most expensive. Booking about six weeks ahead tends to land the best fare. Vietnam Visa for Indians Flying from Hyderabad

Indian passport holders need a visa for Vietnam, and the e-visa is the simplest way to get one. Apply online on the official Vietnam Immigration e-visa portal, not a reseller site.

• The e-visa allows stays of up to 90 days, with single or multiple entry.

• It costs US25forsingleentryorUS50 for multiple entry, paid online by card. The fee is charged even if the application is refused.

• Processing takes about 3 working days, so apply at least a week before your flight.

• Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the arrival date, with two blank pages.

Print the e-visa approval. The airline check-in counter at RGIA will ask for it before issuing a boarding pass. Phu Quoc has its own rule: foreigners who fly directly into the island from abroad can stay there up to 30 days without a visa. Before You Fly: RGIA Tips and Airport-to-City Transfers

Both nonstops leave Hyderabad close to midnight, so plan your evening backwards from the airport. Reach RGIA's international departures by about 20:55 for a 23:55 flight. Carry a printed e-visa, your return ticket and the first hotel booking, and a little US dollar cash to change into Vietnamese dong on arrival. A local SIM or eSIM is sold in the arrivals hall at both Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat.

Noi Bai Airport (HAN) to Hanoi Old Quarter

The Old Quarter is about 30 km from Noi Bai, a 45 to 60 minute drive at dawn. Grab cars and airport taxis wait outside Terminal 2. The cheapest option is city bus 86, which runs from the airport to the Old Quarter and Hanoi railway station.

Tan Son Nhat Airport (SGN) to Ho Chi Minh City District 1

District 1 is only about 7 km away, 25 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. Use Grab or a metered taxi from the official rank, or bus 109 to Ben Thanh market.

Can You Go from Hyderabad to Vietnam by Road, Train or Sea?

No. Flying is the only realistic way from Hyderabad to Vietnam, and the reasons are below.

Hyderabad to Vietnam by Train

India has no rail link to Vietnam, since Myanmar's network doesn't connect to either neighbour. The only international passenger trains into Vietnam come from China. A daily overnight service between Nanning and Hanoi's Gia Lam station restarted in May 2025 after five years off, with border checks at Pingxiang and Dong Dang. You would still have to fly from Hyderabad to China first, so take it only if the train ride is the point.

Hyderabad to Vietnam by Road

The road distance is about 5,800 km, roughly 110 hours behind the wheel through Northeast India, Myanmar, Thailand and Laos. That means four international borders, each with its own permits and vehicle paperwork, and the conflict in Myanmar makes that stretch unsafe for tourists right now. A nonstop flight covers half the distance in four hours.

Hyderabad to Vietnam by Sea

There is no passenger ferry from India to Vietnam. Cruise ships call at Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Ha Long Bay, but those itineraries start from Singapore or Hong Kong, so you would still fly out of Hyderabad first.

Best Time to Fly from Hyderabad to Vietnam

Fly between October and April for the north, December to April for the south, and February to August for Da Nang and Hoi An. Vietnam is never dry everywhere at once, which is why picking your landing airport and your month go together. If you're travelling over Christmas or New Year, book the Hyderabad nonstop 6 to 8 weeks ahead, as those dates fill first.
