A budget Thailand trip from India runs from about Rs 28,000 per person all-in for 5 nights with return flights, or from Rs 9,000 land-only if you book your own flights and just want the ground package. These five spots carry almost every cheap Thailand itinerary, and you can mix any two or three into one trip. Bangkok and Pattaya are the cheapest bases. The islands cost a little more but are worth one leg of the trip.

Bangkok

Bangkok is the capital and the cheapest place to land, so most budget trips start here. It is known for its temples, above all the Emerald Buddha, and its street life. You can eat your way through the food carts, catch a Chinese opera in the lanes of Chinatown, or just get lost in a neighbourhood for an afternoon. Street meals cost a fraction of a restaurant, which is what keeps Bangkok so cheap.

Pattaya

Pattaya is the value pick of the lot, a short drive from Bangkok and packed with beaches, resorts, condos and malls. Because it is so close to the airport it pairs cheaply with Bangkok on a single 4-night trip, which is why our lowest quotes almost always route through here. Phuket

Do Indians Need a Visa for Thailand? (2026)

No. Indian passport holders get 30 days visa-free entry into Thailand, so a short budget trip needs no visa fee and no embassy visit. You only fill in the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before you fly, carry a passport valid for at least six months, and be ready to show a return ticket. Thailand has a tropical climate, so it stays hot and humid most of the year. For the best weather visit November to February, which is peak season and the priciest time to fly. If you are travelling to save money, the green season from May to October is your window: flights and hotels drop sharply, the crowds thin out, and the rain usually comes in short afternoon bursts rather than all day.
