Thailand Family Trip Cost From India (Family of 4)
The most common question we get is a simple one. What does a Thailand trip actually cost for two adults and two kids, all in, from India? The table below builds a realistic land budget from the live per-person fares above, assuming children share the room and pay a reduced rate. Return flights sit on top, and most families flying from a metro pay roughly Rs 15,000 to Rs 22,000 per head depending on how early they book.
| Trip | Nights | Cities | Land cost, family of 4 (from) | Return flights, 4 pax (from) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Short break | 3N/4D | Bangkok, Pattaya | Rs 21,000 | Rs 60,000 |
| Classic family | 4N/5D | Bangkok, Pattaya | Rs 34,000 | Rs 60,000 |
| Beach + parks | 6N/7D | Bangkok, Pattaya, Coral Island | Rs 58,000 | Rs 68,000 |
| City + island | 6N/7D | Bangkok, Phuket | Rs 96,000 | Rs 72,000 |
Land figures are estimates built from live per-person package fares (two kids at a reduced rate); add return airfare and personal spends. Ask for a live quote for your exact dates, since school-holiday weeks and long weekends cost more. Kids under 4 are often free at attractions and share a bed at no extra room charge, which is why a family of four rarely pays four full adult fares.
Best Thailand for Families, by Child Age
Thailand works for every age, but the trip that delights a five-year-old is not the one a fifteen-year-old wants. Pick the band your children fall into and build the itinerary around it.
Toddlers and pre-schoolers (0 to 5)
Keep it short and slow. Pattaya and Krabi win here because the beaches are calm, the transfers are quick and the hotels have shallow pools. The elephant sanctuaries near Chiang Mai and Phuket let little ones feed and bathe rescued elephants at close range, and the gardens at Nong Nooch Village have a tram so nobody has to walk far. Most attractions are free for children under three or four.
School-age kids (6 to 12)
This is the theme-park sweet spot. Safari World in Bangkok packs a drive-through animal park and a marine show into one day, Dream World is the big rides-and-snow park on the city edge, and Underwater World Pattaya walks you through a glass tunnel under sharks and rays. Add a water-park day at Ramayana near Pattaya or Siam Park City in Bangkok, and a Coral Island trip where kids snorkel in life jackets from the boat.
Teens (13 and up)
Teenagers want the speedboat days. Base in Phuket or Krabi and run day trips to the Phi Phi Islands and James Bond Island, try a beginner Discover Scuba dive, and spend an evening at Phuket FantaSea or a Chiang Mai night market. The Flight of the Gibbon zip-line course near Chiang Mai is the one they will actually post about.
Multi-generation trips (grandparents along)
Slow the pace and keep Bangkok as the base. The Chao Phraya dinner cruise, Wat Pho and Wat Arun, and the cable car up to Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai are easy on older knees. Book private transfers rather than group coaches so everyone travels on their own schedule, and flag any wheelchair or step-free needs when you customise, since some temples and islands involve stairs.
10 Kid-Friendly Places to Build a Thailand Family Trip Around
Safari World, Bangkok. A drive-through animal park plus a marine park with dolphin and stunt shows. Plan a full day; it is the single biggest kid draw in the city.
Dream World, Bangkok. Rides, a Snow Town with real snow, and gentle attractions for smaller children on the northern edge of Bangkok.
Underwater World Pattaya. A walk-through aquarium tunnel with sharks, rays and touch pools. Indoor and air-conditioned, so it doubles as a hot-afternoon plan.
Nong Nooch Village, Pattaya. A vast botanical garden with a tram, cultural shows and an elephant show, home to more than 12,000 plant species. Easy for toddlers and grandparents.
Coral Island, Phuket. A short boat ride to clear water for banana rides, sea walking and beginner snorkelling, all with life jackets and instructors.
Phuket FantaSea. An evening cultural theme show with elephants, acrobatics and a huge buffet. Good for a night the kids will remember.
Ramayana Water Park, Pattaya. One of Asia's largest water parks, with slides graded from toddler pools to serious drops for teens.
Mini Siam, Pattaya. Thailand's landmarks and world wonders shrunk to miniature. A quick, low-cost stop that younger kids love.
Elephant Jungle Sanctuary, Chiang Mai / Phuket. An ethical, no-riding sanctuary where families feed and bathe rescued elephants. Book the morning slot for cooler weather.
Phi Phi Islands, Krabi. Speedboat island-hopping to Maya Bay and snorkelling lagoons. Best saved for kids over six who are comfortable on a boat.

Best Time to Visit and How Many Days You Need
November to March is the easiest window for families. The weather is cool and dry, the seas are calm for island days, and the beaches are at their best. April to June turns hot, though mid-April brings the Songkran water festival, which kids genuinely love. July to October is the green season: expect short, heavy showers rather than all-day rain, quieter attractions and the lowest fares of the year.
On length, five to six nights is the sweet spot for one region plus a beach, and it keeps flight fatigue and cost sensible for a family. Give yourself seven to eight nights if you want to combine Bangkok's theme parks with a Phuket or Krabi island stretch. For a first trip with young children, a three or four-night Bangkok and Pattaya break is plenty. For the month-by-month detail, see the Thailand travel guide.
How to Choose the Right Family Package
Four quick lenses to narrow 20 options down to the one that fits your family.
By what your kids love. Bangkok and Pattaya for theme parks and short transfers; Phuket or Krabi for beaches and island days; a two-city combo if you want both.
By budget. Land packages start at Rs 6,056 per person; premium city-plus-island trips run to Rs 38,500. See fuller ranges on the honeymoon and group package pages if your trip leans that way.
By how long you have. A 4N/5D trip covers one region comfortably; 6N/7D lets you pair Bangkok with an island without rushing.
By season. November to March for calm seas and cool days; green-season July to October for the lowest fares.
What to Pack for Thailand With Kids
Thailand is warm and casual year-round, so pack light. A short, sensible checklist beats a suitcase you have to drag through three hotels.
Reef-safe sunscreen, sun hats and after-sun for the whole family; the sun is strong on the water.
Quick-dry clothes and swimwear, plus water shoes for rocky island beaches.
Any regular medicines, a basic first-aid kit, and mosquito repellent for evenings and green-season trips.
Refillable water bottles, a power bank, and universal adapters (Thai sockets take Indian plugs loosely, so bring one).
Photocopies of passports, the TDAC confirmation, and some cash in Thai baht for tuk-tuks, ferry counters and tips.

Thailand Visa for Indian Families in 2026
Indian passport holders can enter Thailand visa-free for up to 30 days as of Jul 2026. This follows the Thai Cabinet decision of 14 July 2026, which moved India to the 30-day visa-exemption tier (the earlier 60-day allowance no longer applies to Indian tourists). Every traveller, including children, must also complete the free online Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), which has replaced the old paper TM6 form, within 72 hours before arrival. Carry proof of onward or return travel and confirmed accommodation, as immigration can ask for them on entry.
Most travel sites still quote the old 60-day rule, a 90-day figure, or a visa-on-arrival fee. For a family trip in 2026 the correct position is simple: no visa fee, 30 days, and a TDAC for each member. The law takes effect 15 days after publication in the Royal Gazette, so confirm the exact start date close to your travel dates.
Why Book Your Thailand Family Trip With TravelTriangle
Every Thailand family package is delivered through handpicked, verified local agents, and every trip is fully customisable down to the hotel category, the mix of cities and the age-appropriate activities for your children. The 4.4/5 rating comes from 4,929 real travellers who booked and returned, not from anonymous reviews, and more than 40 lakh travellers have planned trips with us since 2011. What our Thailand desk checks
“Fly into Bangkok and do Pattaya first, then fly down to Phuket. The two-hour Bangkok to Pattaya road transfer is easy with kids, and flying the second leg saves you a long coach day.”
Fares and the 2026 visa rule on this page are checked by our Thailand desk against the Thai government's July 2026 visa-exemption update.

FAQs About Thailand Family Packages
How much does a Thailand family trip cost from India?
For two adults and two children, a short 3N/4D Bangkok and Pattaya trip starts at about ₹21,000 in land cost. A classic 4N/5D trip starts at about ₹34,000, while a 6N/7D city-plus-island holiday costs about ₹58,000 to ₹96,000. Return flights add roughly ₹15,000 to ₹22,000 per person from a metro city. Children under four usually share a room free of charge, which keeps the total family cost well below the price of four adult fares.
Do Indian families need a visa for Thailand in 2026?
No visa fee is required. As of Jul 2026 Indian passport holders get 30-day visa-free entry, following the Thai Cabinet decision of 14 July 2026. Every traveller, including children, must complete the free online Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within 72 hours before arrival, which has replaced the old TM6 form. Ignore sites still quoting a 60-day or 90-day rule.
What are the best kid-friendly places in Thailand?
Bangkok's Safari World and Dream World, Underwater World and Nong Nooch Village in Pattaya, and a Coral Island boat day off Phuket are the top family draws. Add an ethical elephant sanctuary near Chiang Mai or Phuket, and a water park like Ramayana. Teens tend to prefer speedboat trips to the Phi Phi Islands.
How many days are enough for Thailand with family?
Five to six nights is the sweet spot for one region plus a beach. Choose seven to eight nights if you want to combine Bangkok's theme parks with a Phuket or Krabi island stretch. For a first trip with young children, a three or four-night Bangkok and Pattaya break is comfortable and keeps costs down.
Is Thailand safe for family travel with children?
Yes. Thailand is one of Asia's most family-friendly destinations, with good hospitals in the main cities, widely available bottled water, and hotels used to Indian families and their food preferences. Stick to licensed boat operators for island trips, use life jackets for kids, and keep to the calmer beaches with toddlers.
Is Thailand suitable for toddlers and elderly family members?
Very. Pattaya and Krabi have calm beaches and short transfers that suit toddlers, while Bangkok's temples, river cruises and the Doi Suthep cable car are gentle on grandparents. Book private transfers instead of group coaches, keep daily plans light, and flag any step-free or wheelchair needs when you customise.
Can I customise a Thailand family package?
Yes. Every package is fully customisable in terms of hotels, the cities you visit, sightseeing, activities and flights from your city. Tell your agent the ages of your children and your budget, and the itinerary is built around them rather than a fixed template.
Which is the best season for a Thailand family holiday?
November to March is best: cool, dry weather and calm seas that are ideal for beaches and island days. April to June is hot but brings the Songkran water festival in mid-April, which kids love. July to October is the green season, with short showers, fewer crowds and the lowest fares of the year.
Should I exchange currency in India or Thailand?
Carry a small amount of Thai baht from India for arrival costs like transfers, tips and ferry counters, then exchange the rest at licensed money changers in Thailand, which usually offer better rates than Indian airports. Cards work in malls and larger restaurants, but keep cash for markets, tuk-tuks and island stalls.
What meals are included on a Thailand family tour?
Most packages include daily breakfast, and you can add lunches or dinners on request. Vegetarian, non-vegetarian and Jain meals are all arranged, and standalone meals are generally priced around ₹400 per person. Mention any dietary needs, including food for young children, to your agent at the time of booking.
