About Surinsar Lake in Jammu
Surinsar Lake is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Jammu and is considered the twin lake of Mansar Lake. Surrounded by lush greenery from all sides and thick forests with rocky hills make for the perfect landscape that is worth capturing. Surinsar Lake is obviously famous for its enthralling beauty besides this it is also famous for some mythological importance.
The quaintness and the serenity of the place often attracts not only tourists but also the locals who wish to spend some peaceful moments away from the hustle-bustle of city. Surinsar Mansar Lake have religious importance because it is said that the lakes were evolved from the earth naturally when a bolt was shot by Arjun in Mansar. Hence, these lakes have religious importance and the waters of these lakes are considered holy and auspicious. Unfortunately, swimming and boating is not allowed at Surinsar Lake in Jammu.
The natural beauty of this lake is just enough to keep you spellbound. Perfect for nature lovers, this place has something for bird lovers as well. There is a bird sanctuary next to the lake where one can get a glimpse of so many eccentric species of birds. The mangrove and the pine trees surrounding the lake makes it even more enchanting and the whole scenery is very scenic and pleasing to the eyes.
Besides the natural beauty surrounding the Surinsar Lake Jammu, there is also an island amidst the lake that is home to around thousand of bats. It is not allowed to go at that island as there is no connectivity to reach that island. If you happen to visit the lake during the summer season, you will notice beautiful lotuses floating on the surface of the lake that makes it look even more appealing. Surinsar Lake is a must visit place on a honeymoon trip to Jammu as couples will get a serene environment to spend some special moments.
