About Athirappilly Falls in Athirapally

The gorgeous Athirappilly Falls is located in the Thrissur district of Kerala. These falls are referred to as Niagara Falls of India due to its majestic size which is like 80 feet high and 330 feet wide. Also, these falls are known as Athirapally in some areas of Kerala. These are the largest waterfalls in Kerala. The falls are surrounded by a dense forest of Vazhachal. One can see a great variety of flora and fauna in the thick and lush green forest of Vazhachal. The place is home to hornbill, tigers, elephants, bison, and leopards. Vazhachal is considered to be the best bio-diversity places in Kerala. Chalakudy River is one of the sources of Athirappilly Falls in Kerala.

Trekking in Athirapally  

The way to Athirapally Falls acts as a trek for most of the adventure lovers. It is a quick adventure dose for those of you who are looking forward to an adrenaline rush. The route to the Falls is in good condition and can be easily trodden down. On your way, you will find a lot of flora and fauna which will definitely be a treat to your eyes. The view from the top is simply amazing. Make sure to stay safe and click a lot of pictures while returning. 

Jungle Safari at Athirappilly Falls 

Everyday jungle safaris are organized at Athirappilly Falls. This venture is taken up by the Tourism Promotion Council of the district in collaboration with the governing body of Athirapally. These jungle safaris are taken from Chalakudy to Malakkappara which is a 90 km tour across the Sholayar range through Kerala’s rainforests. During Jungle Safari at Athirappilly Falls, you can see places like Kauthuka Park, Thumboormuzhy Dam, Butterfly garden, Vazhachal falls, Athirapally falls, valleys, rainforest and so on. 

Athirapally Falls in Movies

Athirapally Falls are one of the most scenic beauty spots in Kerala. In fact, this place is so famous that it has been the background for a lot of movies. Bollywood songs have been shot at the Athirappilly Falls. Some of the songs that we still recall today are "Jiya Jale" from Dil Se and "Barso Re Megha" from Guru. Other famous movies and songs include "Bahubali", Raavan, "Chalo Chalain Mitwa" in Nayak, "Sunta hai tera khuda" from Pukar and so on. Get to relive one of these songs on your visit to Athirapally.

    I recently availed a travel package from 7C Destination - Ranjith helped us book the package, and while most of the experience was positive, there were a few drawbacks that I would like to highlight. Positives: Cab Driver: Sudhish, our cab driver, was exceptional. He was not only professional but
    also incredibly helpful and down-to-earth, making our journey smooth and enjoyable. Hotels: The hotels included in the package were excellent, providing great comfort and hospitality. Negatives: Houseboat Experience: Unfortunately, the houseboat experience was a major letdown. Not a single sightseeing activity was covered during the houseboat trip. The houseboat remained docked in a village where the crew seemed to be engaged in other work. Before the trip, we were promised a village tour, an optional powerboat ride, and then a return for a night stay. However, the crew moved at a very slow pace, and we ended up spending the night in the same village without fulfilling the promised activities. To make matters worse, we were dropped off early the next morning without any sightseeing. I hope 7C Destination takes these concerns seriously to ensure a better experience for future travelers.
