About Jageshwar Dham in Almora

Jageshwar Temple is a group of more than 100 Hindu temples which were constructed during the 9th and the 12th century. Located in Almora, these temples represent the architectural style of the North India Nagara. Most of these temples are dedicated to Gods and Goddesses like Vishnu, Shiva, Shakti, and Surya.

These temples are considered as one of the most beautiful and creative architectures in the state of Uttarakhand. The group of 124 big and small temples looks amazing in front of the picturesque background of green mountains. The Jageshwar Dham history dates back to the medieval period, these temples have showcase carvings on the wall, stone sculptures, and stone lingams. This temple is perfect for those who want some break from the hustle and bustle of life and do some meditation and soul searching.

Location

Jageshwar Dham in Almora is located in the state of Uttarakhand, 1870 m above the sea level. The temple area is surrounded by deodar forest and river Ganga Jata flows through these clusters of temples. Since this location is situated above the sea level, the temperature varies from 2 to 28 degrees.
