Its ruins date back to the days when it was populated and prosperous. One of the smallest towns of the world, Dhanushkodi redefines the term isolated.
Dhanuskodi history hails from Ramayana that states this is the place, where Lord Rama with Lord Hanumana built a bridge known as Dhanushkodi Ram Setu or Adam’s Bridge to reach Sri Lanka and rescue his wife Goddess Sita from Ravana. Once victorious, Lord Rama crowned Vibhishana, brother of Ravana, as the King of Lanka. Vibhishana later asked the Lord to destroy the bridge.
