About Nainital Lake

The Nainital lake view can be described as both peaceful, serene and fascinating for the travelers, tourists and the locals alike.  Nainital Lake is surrounded by seven hills, namely, Ayarpata, Deopata, Handi Bandi, Cheena peak, Alma, Laria Kanta and lastly Sher-ka-Danda. This natural freshwater lake has been inspiring many poets and writers since ages. The town of Nainital has also been named after the Nainital Lake. The Nainital Lake was found back in 1839 by P. Baron, a British businessman who came across it during a hunting expedition.

Though Nainital Lake is one of the most famous lakes in Nainital, there are also others which add beauty to the alluring scene of the hill station. The different lakes in Nainital are namely, the Naini Lake, Sattal, Sariyatal, Bhimtal and the Khurpatal Lake. Exploring these pristine and clean water bodies amidst the hills is a boon for each and everyone visiting this serene hill station. Sattal, which is an interlinked group of seven mesmerizing freshwater lakes is a must visit place for the tourists who generally have an eye for picturesque exquisiteness. Khurpatal serves as the source of several natural springs that provide groundwater for human consumption and also serves as a center of fishing.

Before taking a Nainital lake tour, it is important to know a little about the history of these lakes. The word “Naini" is derived from the temple of Goddess Naini which was built on the bank of the lake but later got destroyed due to landslides in the year 1880. Thus, the lake has both cultural and historical relevance in the history of Nainital.

Since Nainital is a city of lakes, boating plays an important role in the economy of the place. Nainital lake boating is one of the must do fun activities for tourists. Many tourists spend their evenings in the lakes and this also serves as a source of livelihood for many tourist guides as well. Roompa's 6 days trip to Nainital

Driving was good but there was a problem in the attitude. He was just trying to escape from his duties and also misleading us. Behaviour was a problem and forced us to wrap up everyday by 5pm. We have hardly seen any places and also didnt get any knowledge from any place. Traveling was a pain cause there was no place to sit coz the luaggages had to be kept since there was no carrier on top. Since kausani was 200 km more he convinced us for Ranikhet to avoid extra driving. Behaviour was rude.As far as the experience goes, traveling with Mr. Sonu Joshi was pathetic and horrible..

Shilpa's 5 days trip to Nainital

Booked a trip to uttarakhand with Tripsailer. The bookings were hassle free and Preethi handled the itinerary customizations as per my interest. She booked the cab, driver, safari, hotels and any sightseeing details. I was travelling alone and hence she had taken care of the safety aspect as well. She also mentioned she would be available on call during my trip. I had to just call her once for safari driver confirmation which she immediately took care. I enjoyed the trip stress free. The hotels though it says 4 star, may not really have the amenities of a 4* hotel. I did not do enough research and asked to book hotels that were suggested by some other agent's itinerary. They were decent and had very good views from the rooms. But I felt you could find better and cleaner hotels for that price. The sunrise view from kausani and seeing the himalayan range from the hotel room balcony was amazing!!!

Aditi's 5 days trip to Nainital

We had a really good experience with Aapka Tripwala on my trip to Nainital-Almora-Mukteshwar in May 2023. The package was priced very reasonably. They arranged a car for me along with an experienced driver. Chirag and the team were helpful and took care of things in a smooth manner. Special thanks to our Drievr Kundan Ji who is very experience and professional. It was lovely experince and eager to book another trip from Aapka Tripwala . They give what you request and the way you want ...Book them for your trip to Uttarakhand without hesitation!Keep rocking team !!!

Amol's 7 days trip to Nainital

.The hotel in Mussoorie Jim Corbett Nainital was fine, it was expected to be even better. The food given was good in some places and not right in others. How can it be better? No complaints about the rest of the vehicle and driver. The tour is expected to be a bit more relaxed in the next tour. The response from the tour planner was good but they are little bit clearity required . Mussoorie is best in hotel and food.sightseening is also good

Miss's 4 days trip to Nainital

The overall experience was good. We tried to cover all the places in the itinerary but missed some due to time constraint and long distance. Even few kms in the mountains is a lot. The driver was not experienced, he pretended as if he knows everything but he knew nothing. The goodies, cake, candle light dinner was not there as per the plan. There was mismanagement at some places. Cygnett resort was very good but Gajraj Trails Resort was okayish. Corbett Safari was good. Overall would rate the trip 4 out of 5.

Devinder's 5 days trip to Nainital

Hustle free travel since everything was already booked. Would have been better if first hotel was in Nainital instead of Bhimtal. Overall a good experience. Food taste of Resort was not that good but the ambience was very peaceful.
