About Betaab Valley In Pahalgam

Betaab Valley in Pahalgam is one of the most serene spots to visit in Jammu and Kashmir. The valley was earlier known as Hagan Valley. The valley is known for gorgeous and breathtaking views comprising mountains which are covered in pine forests and deodar trees and beautiful Lidder River flowing through the valley. The valley has been an iconic place for Bollywood movies to shooting many romantic numbers. Betaab Valley has become a popular tourist attraction in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. The valley forms a pathway for the pilgrimage going for Amarnath Temple Yatra. It is situated at a distance of 15 km from the city center of Pahalgam. The duration between the months of October and April is considered the ideal time to visit the valley. During this time, not only the weather is pleasant but you get to explore the best of Betaab Valley in Kashmir. Visitors ideally spend from 1 to 2 hours in this location. This valley is so picturesquely beautiful that it is any nature lovers’ dream come true.   

History of Betaab Valley

The region where Betaab Valley in Pahalgam is located was ruled by the Mughals till the 15th century. Later, during the end of the 15th century, Mirza Muhammad Haidar Dughlat ruled the valley initially on behalf of Sultan Said Khan of Kashgar and later the valley again came under the rule of Mughal Emperor Humayun. Therefore, the history of Betaab valley takes you back to the Mughal Era. The valley during this period was called Hagan Valley but after the release of the movie Betaab starring Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh, the valley became famous as Betaab Valley. 

Things To Do in Betaab Valley

Tourists can indulge in many activities in Betab Valley, such as enjoy horse riding and explore a wide variety of flora consisting of pine, walnut, willow, and deodar trees. The valley also serves the purpose of the base campsite for the people who are going for trekking. One can also enjoy the amusement park made for kids in the valley. Enjoy local Kashmiri delicacies while visiting the valley and click photos wearing the ethnic Kashmiri clothes. There are many things that one can do in Betaab Valley. Some of the activities include a photo walk, trek, sightseeing, adventure ride, etc. 

There are many famous Bollywood movies shot in the valley such as Rockstar, Kashmir Ki Kali, Aarzoo, Silsila, Satte Pe Satta, and Kabhi Kabhi. Bollywood movies have played an important role in popularizing Betaab Valley in Pahalgam.

Aru Valley: Aru Valley is a perfect option to visit from Betaab Valley. It is located at a distance of 18.6 km from Betaab Valley. Aru offers you a serene space to catch the charm of unexploited hills and pristine valleys. Some call it the mirror image of Betaab Valley. 

Mamleshwar Temple: Located at a short distance of 7.2 km from Betaab Valley in Kashmir, Mamleshwar Temple is one of the most prestigious temples located in Pahalgam. This Hindu temple is devoted to Lord Shiva.  

Pahalgam Golf Course: Another great attraction located near the valley is the Pahalgam Golf Course situated at a distance of 15 km. Owing to its surroundings and the altitude, it is one of the most aesthetically pleasing golf course in. 

Sheshnag Lake: With an elevation of 3,590 meters, Sheshnag Lake is one of the most bewitching lakes in Kashmir. It lures people from all around the world.

We were received at the airport by Mr. Amir, who was very proactive and helpful in all aspects. He navigated us throughout the tour without any rush or delay at any place, and made us comfortable throughout our entire tour. Hotel Grand Sahara Hills at Srinagar was cosy and spacious, and we had a good experience. But they need to improve their room service. (4 stars) Hotel Supreme Resort at Pahalgam is not fully ready to receive guests. The hotel  construction is not complete. Basic facilities such as approach road are not yet built, and the generator is not capable of running heater or geyser. The location is also not great. Food served had limited choices, they had only jain food. (2 stars) Hotel Zahgeer at Gulmarg is very good and in a good location. Service and food was also good. (5 stars) On the last day we stayed in Blue Dolphin houseboat in Dal lake. While the houseboat itself is okay, it was too cold to utilise any of its space due to the extremely cold weather. It had a firewood based heater in 2 out of 4 rooms, which was not sufficient to warm any room up to a comfortable temperature. We should have been advised against staying in a houseboat in such a weather condition on the last day of a long trip. The tour co-ordinators were in communication and helped out wherever possible.
