About Mattupetty Dam In Munnar

Surrounded by the lush hills of Mattupetty, the Mattupetty Dam is one of the major tourist hotspots of Kerala.

This dam lies about 13 kilometers from Munnar and is a nature lover’s delight surrounded by enchanting valleys, rolling grasslands, mist-laden hills and cascading streams.

When you visit the Mattupetty dam in Munnar, you will love the reflection of the tea garden in the still water. You can also reach the dam on a speedboat to enjoy the thrill of water sports. The Mattupetty Dam boating price is INR 500 for speed boating for 15 minutes and INR 300 for paddle boating for 15 mins.

Other fun activities include trekking in the Shola forest nearby. While trekking in this forest, you will be able to spot many plants and animals. Enjoy the tranquil beauty of the rivulets and cascades all around the village.

One can also visit nearby places such as the cattle farm where you can witness varieties of high-yielding cattle grazing due to which the Mattupetty village gets the name ‘cattle village.'

Other places of interest near the Mattupetty dam include the glistening Kundala Lake and the majestic Kundala tea plantations. If you plan on staying in Mattupetty, there are several accommodation options available. You can stay in midrange and budget hotels and homestays or you can also stay in hotels in Munnar.

You can visit the dam at any time of the year as it is a hill station and the climate is always cool. However, if you planning a holiday, the best time to visit Mattupetty dam is from August to May.

My trip was kerala was arranged by Namaskaram travels. My agent Sunny was very helpful throughout the trip. However I had some bad experience through the trip. The hotel in Munnar, Grand Valley, which was given to me in a 4 star package package was not of the standard for a 4-star. The location of the hotel was 100-150 m steep down the road, which could only be reached through hotel jeep, our traveller stayed out. A good hotel but not a 4 star. The next day, my traveller broke down on our way to Thekkady and we were stuck in the middle of nowhere for a couple of hours. The agency arranged for another traveller which covered our itenary for that day and dropped us to our hotel, Woodnote, which was the best in our trip. Local arrangements were made for our siteseeing in Thekkady, which were also good. Finally, a new traveller was assigned to us for our remaining trip, with with we covered Allepy and our drop to Kochi. Overall: Traveller Experience: 2/10 Grand Valley View, Munnar: 4/10 Woodnote, Thekkady: 10/10 Time Square, Allepy: 7/10 Agent Communication: 10/10 Travel Triangle Communication: 10/10
