Floating Market In Pattaya

Pattaya Floating Market, Thailand

Enjoy a visit to the incredible floating market in Pattaya

Rated 4.40/5 ( based on 6534 reviews )

Pattaya Floating Market is the largest man-made floating market in Thailand, spread across 109,270 square metres (about 27 acres) on the Na Kluea side of Pattaya in Chon Buri. Local businessman Warida Sae-eng opened it on 1 November 2008, and it has grown into one of the city’s most photographed cultural stops. Foreign visitors pay a gate entrance fee of THB 200 (about Rs 570), and the market runs every day from morning to early evening. Inside, wooden walkways and narrow canals link four zones built to mirror the food and architecture of Thailand’s four regions. You can shop from vendor boats, watch mango sticky rice made in front of you, take a paddled canal ride, or catch a sea-boxing bout fought on a ring above the water.

Pattaya Floating Market at a Glance

Here is the short version for anyone planning a half-day stop.

Detail Information
Location Na Kluea, Pattaya, Chon Buri (about 17 km from central Pattaya)
Opened 1 November 2008, founded by Warida Sae-eng
Size 109,270 sq m (27 acres) across four themed zones
Entrance fee THB 200 / Rs 570 for a foreign adult
Timings Open daily, roughly 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
Time needed 2 to 3 hours
Best for Thai culture, street food, souvenir shopping and photos

Entrance Fee and Tickets

A foreign adult pays a gate entrance fee of THB 200, which is about Rs 570 at today’s rate of 1 THB to Rs 2.85. Children between 90 and 130 cm pay less, and toddlers under 90 cm walk in free. Some ticket sellers bundle a boat ride or a show into a THB 300 combo, so check what a quoted price actually covers before you hand over cash. For the full ticket breakdown and any current offers, see our Pattaya Floating Market entry fees page.

Ticket THB Rs (approx)
Adult entrance (foreign visitor) THB 200 Rs 570
Child, 90 to 130 cm THB 100 Rs 285
Child under 90 cm Free Free
Optional paddled canal boat ride from THB 150 from Rs 430

Prices in rupees are converted at 1 THB = Rs 2.85 and are a guide for Indian travellers. Pay in baht at the counter.

The Four Regions: What to See in Each Zone

The market is laid out as four connected zones, each themed on one part of Thailand, so a single loop walks you across the whole country in miniature.

• North (Lanna): Teak houses and shaded bridges, hill-tribe silverwork and woven cotton, and cooler-climate snacks like grilled sticky rice.

• Northeast (Isan): The smoky, spicy corner: charcoal-grilled chicken, green papaya salad (som tam), and bold folk textiles from the Mekong provinces.

• Central: The busiest canals, royal-style rooflines, and the classic sweets most people picture, from mango sticky rice to coconut pancakes.

• South: Fresh seafood, coconut-heavy curries, and coastal handicrafts, closest in flavour to the beach towns down the peninsula.

Boat Rides and Things to Do

The signature experience is a slow paddled ride through the canals, about 20 minutes, weaving past vendor boats that sell fruit, noodles and grilled skewers straight off the hull. Beyond the water there is plenty to fill an afternoon.

• Watch a sea-boxing (Muay Thai) bout fought on a ring built over the water, a crowd favourite that most other markets cannot copy.

• Book a Thai massage at the herbal village, or sit for a costume photo in traditional Thai dress.

• Browse the art and craft stalls for hand-painted fans, carved teak and brightly dyed fabric.

• Feed the parrots at the bird enclosure, a quick hit for families with young kids.

Come hungry. The food is the real draw, and eating your way from one zone to the next is how most travellers spend their visit.

Timings and Best Time to Visit

The market opens every day, roughly from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. A weekday morning is the quietest, before the tour coaches arrive and while the food stalls are still setting out. For the sea-boxing and cultural shows, aim for late morning or early afternoon when the schedule is busiest. The cooler, drier months from November to February are the most comfortable for walking the open-air walkways. For show timings and any seasonal changes, check our floating market timings page.

How to Reach and Traveller Tips

The market sits about 17 km from central Pattaya, roughly a 30-minute ride by songthaew, taxi or Grab. From Bangkok it is around a two-hour drive down Highway 7. If you are basing yourself in the city, it pairs well with a morning at the beach or a visit to the Sanctuary of Truth nearby. For detailed routes and fares, see our how to reach guide.

• Carry cash in small baht notes: many boat vendors do not take cards.

• Wear light clothes and comfortable shoes; the walkways are long and mostly uncovered.

• Go early to beat both the heat and the tour groups.

• Bargain politely on souvenirs, but not on food.

Prices and timings on this page were checked by our Thailand desk against Wikipedia and operator listings for 2026.

The check-in process was seamless. The accommodation itself was beyond my expectations.I really love the swimming pool and the buffet breakfast. Beyond the hotel, the itinerary you crafted for us was diverse and captivating. From exploring the bustling streets of Bangkok to immersing myself in the natural wonders of Phuket, every destination left an indelible mark on my heart. I will undoubtedly recommend your travel agency to my friends, family, and colleagues who are seeking an extraordinary travel experience. Your attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to customer satisfaction are truly commendable. Once again, thank you for making my Thailand trip so special. Yugal was our travel agent. He was always available from the day we booked the trip till we completed our trip. He was always a call away and was helpful to resolve all the queries. His commitment was commendable. We took 4 night 5 days package. The hotels we stayed were fortunately good. Cab serv
ices were not as much cooperative as expected. I would suggest to include most imp tourist spots of bangkok/pattaya in basic package itself. Like we had a bangkok city tour in our package but reclining budha/watarun temple was not part of it. Better to have it included in basic packages which would improve customer satisfaction. But overall it was a good and hustle free experience.

    Pattaya Travel FAQs

What is the entrance fee for Pattaya Floating Market?

A foreign adult pays a gate entrance fee of THB 200, about Rs 570. Children between 90 and 130 cm pay less, and under 90 cm is free. Some sellers offer a THB 300 combo that adds a boat ride or show, so confirm what the ticket includes before paying.

What are the opening hours of Pattaya Floating Market?

The market is open every day, roughly from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Mornings are the calmest, before the tour coaches arrive, while late morning to early afternoon is best for the sea-boxing and cultural shows.

How do I reach Pattaya Floating Market?

From central Pattaya it is about 17 km, or a 30-minute ride by songthaew, taxi or Grab. From Bangkok it is roughly a two-hour drive down Highway 7. Many travellers combine it with a beach morning or a nearby attraction.

How much time do I need at the floating market?

Plan for two to three hours. That is enough to walk all four zones, take a canal boat ride, watch a show, and eat your way through the food stalls without rushing.

Is Pattaya Floating Market worth visiting, and is it good for families?

Yes, especially if you enjoy street food, culture and photos. Kids like the boat rides, the parrot feeding and the sea-boxing, and the walkways are stroller-friendly in most zones. It is a relaxed half-day rather than a thrill stop.

What is Pattaya Floating Market famous for?

It is the largest man-made floating market in Thailand, known for its four zones themed on the country's regions, its vendor boats selling food across the canals, and its sea-boxing ring built over the water.

How much does the boat ride cost and how long is it?

A paddled canal ride runs about 20 minutes and starts from around THB 150 (roughly Rs 430) per person. You can also hop on shorter vendor boats to buy food and fruit straight off the water.

What food can I try at Pattaya Floating Market?

Each zone has its own specialities: mango sticky rice and coconut pancakes in the Central area, grilled chicken and som tam from Isan, seafood and coconut curries from the South, and grilled sticky rice up North. Come hungry and graze as you walk.
