Popularly known as Ghanta Ghar, the construction of this famous tourist attraction started in the year 1948 and completed in the year 1953, Clock Tower Dehradun is a famous landmark and is a famous tourist spot. Architecture of Clock Tower

Height: This monument is 85m tall and has six faces each of which had an impressive clock that is not functional now.

History of Clock Tower

It is an important historical place. Inaugurated by the much-respected Lal Bahadur Shastri, it was a renowned landmark of the city even before India got its independence and was built by the Britishers. Sarojani Naidu laid the base of this beautiful monument in 1948 when she was the Governor of Uttar Pradesh. It is believed that the ticking of the Clock Tower, Dehradun (when it was functional) could be heard from far off places of this hilly city. Originally this monument was named Balbir tower. This tower represented and marked the independence of India. Tourists from all over the world visit this place and is a major heritage site.
