Can You Take a Cruise to Bali from India?

There is no direct cruise from India to Bali. No passenger ship or ferry sails from Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi or Kolkata to Bali, and the Mumbai to Bali cruise announced in 2018 never launched.

So most Indian travellers fly to Bali, about 7 hours non-stop from Bengaluru, and cruise once they land. A few fly to Singapore and board a 12 or 13-night ship that ends at Benoa, Bali, between late November and January.

Every package below is built the first way. You get hotels, airport transfers, sightseeing and at least one cruise, usually the Bali Hai day trip to Nusa Lembongan or the sunset dinner cruise out of Benoa Harbour. Types of Bali Cruises in Our Packages

The two cruises in our packages, Bali Hai and Bounty, start from Benoa Harbour, on the bay between Sanur and Nusa Dua and about 25 minutes from Kuta. Fast boats to Nusa Penida leave from Sanur, and dolphin boats from Lovina on the north coast. Nusa Penida island-hops and Lovina dolphin boats can be added on request.

The island day cruise. On the Bali Hai trip you board at Benoa around 9 am and cross to Nusa Lembongan, a small island off Bali's south-east coast, in about 90 minutes. The day there includes a village tour, a beach stop and a buffet lunch, with snorkelling over the reef and the glass-bottom boat as options, and you are back at your hotel by late afternoon. In the Cruise Special this is day 6, the day after you move from Kuta to Seminyak.

Water sports on the water. Several packages pair the cruise with a Tanjung Benoa water-sports morning: snorkelling, a banana boat ride and a glass-bottom boat across to Turtle Island.

The evening cruise. The sunset dinner cruise is the part couples remember. You board at about 5:30 pm, the boat leaves Benoa at 5:45 and turns back after dark. Dinner is a buffet, with Balinese dancers and live music on deck, and you are back on shore by 8:30 pm.

How to Choose Your Bali Cruise Package

By how much time you want on the water. One cruise fits a 4 or 5-night trip. Want both the Lembongan day and the dinner cruise? The 7N/8D Cruise Special has them on days 6 and 7.

By budget. Under Rs 40,000 gets you a 3-star stay with one or two cruises. Above Rs 50,000 buys 4 and 5-star resorts in Nusa Dua or Seminyak.

Best Time for a Bali Cruise

April to October is the best time for a Bali cruise. It is the dry season, the water off Benoa is flattest, and the sunset dinner cruise gets clear skies most evenings. July, August and the Christmas to New Year week are peak season, so book those 6 to 8 weeks ahead. May, June and September are quieter and cheaper.

November to March is the wet season, but the cruises still run. Rain usually comes as a heavy afternoon shower, so the morning Lembongan crossing is rarely affected, and a rough day can be moved by a day or two. Book a package with a free day in the middle and you lose nothing. December and January are also when the Celebrity Millennium's Singapore to Bali sailings arrive. What to Carry on a Bali Cruise

Reef-safe sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses. The Lembongan deck has little shade.
Swimwear under your clothes, a quick-dry towel and a change for the ride back.
A light jacket for the dinner cruise; it gets breezy after dark.
Seasickness tablets if you are prone to it. The 90-minute crossing can be choppy.
Some rupiah in cash for drinks, photos and tips on board.
Your passport copy and hotel name for the pickup.

The trip was organised well in advance, with specific instructions ensuring the comfort level of travellers (all travellers were senior citizens). Given below are major observations for further improvement: 1. 06/09/26: Arrival in Bali: There was an arrival time difference between the two groups. I

t could have been better if separate pickup was arranged so that excessive waiting time could have been avoided by the first group members. The reason was the distance between the airport and the place of stay. The travel advisor could have arranged the itinerary in such a way that the first day was spent at a nearby place. Anyway, not a major issue. 2. Stay at Ubud: The property was good; the only issue was that it was not properly maintained. In two villas, the room fridge was not working. The next day, a mechanic was called, and he suggested replacement. Toiletries were not filled in before arrival; even the tea pouches were made available on request. Warm water was not available in some villas. The major issue was property selection; all members were entitled to equal amenities, whereas in fact, the villa configuration was different for two facilities. The tour organiser was aware of the same, and we were kept in the dark. 3. 07/09: The day was spent well. The driver arrived on time. No major issues. 4. 08/09: The sightseeing itinerary planning was OK. But faced issues at the new property. The rooms allotted were not accessible by lift, whereas members were having knee issues and were not OK with stairs. After a lot of persuasion, the rooms were shifted. It was specifically mentioned that since the group comprises senior citizens, either book the rooms on the ground floor or the lift should be accessible on the upper floor. If, after arrival, we have to manage that, why at all are we engaging a travel organiser is a moot question. 5. 09/09: The itinerary planning was poor. Returned to the hotel by around 3.30 pm; had to miss one scheduled activity as there was a gap of 3 hrs in the next item on the schedule, whereas the plan mentioned that it was till 8 pm. The planning was at fault. 6. While finalising the itinerary, the organiser missed one major activity of bali swing. It is an iconic activity associated with Bali. Don't know why it was not included. Secondly, in the itinerary, there is a reference to a volcano visit which was not covered. Further, at Nusa Penida: In the itinerary, it was mentioned to keep IRD 25K per person for the broken bridge, but we were taken to two places where, at each place, the entry fee of 25K was demanded, and we were short of cash. The driver had no idea about the speedboat, dropped us at a location too far away, and we had to walk more than one kilometre, whereas the nearest parking was available within walking distance (say, 50-100 meters) 7. 11/09: Early morning (4 AM) departure to the airport was not well coordinated. 8. Last but not least: In a foreign country, the driver is the sole communicator between travellers and the local community. We were told the driver cum guide would be English-speaking. We can understand the limitation, but communication skills are a critical factor and needs serious improvement. Being professional is different, but travellers need a companion during the trip, which was a major miss. Summary: We enjoyed the trip, but the experience could have been better. I would say that we deserve compensation for the deficiency of services we faced during the trip to restore our confidence in Travel Triangle to assign our future trips (this was 3rd trip we organised through Travel Triangle)
