Paradise Beach In Phuket

Paradise Beach in Phuket, Thailand

An Enigmatic Puzzle in the Form of Paradise Beach

Rated 4.40/5 ( based on 6534 reviews )

Paradise Beach is now free to walk into. The old gate fee is gone, so you only pay if you want the 50-baht round-trip shuttle down the steep access road or the 200-baht day package that adds a beach chair, shower and toilets. It is a small, sheltered cove on the south side of Patong Bay in Kathu, about 5 km from Patong itself, with calm water good for swimming, a coral reef roughly 100 metres offshore, and a beach club that runs watersports by day and the well-known Full Moon Party after dark. Jet skis are not allowed here, which is why it stays quieter than Patong.

Paradise Beach at a Glance

Location Kathu, south end of Patong Bay, Phuket. About 5 km southwest of Patong Beach.
Entry fee Free to walk in. Optional 50 THB shuttle or 200 THB day package (chair, shower, toilets).
Opening hours Roughly 9:00 am to 6:00 pm daily.
How to reach 10 to 15 min drive from Patong via Amari and Tri Trang, then a steep hill. Taxi, Grab, scooter or the beach club shuttle.
Best time November to April for calm, clear water. Weekday mornings are quietest.
Good for Swimming, snorkelling the reef, kayak and SUP, a beach-club day, sunset and full-moon nights.

About Paradise Beach

Paradise Beach sits in a compact, palm-backed cove about 150 metres wide, tucked into the headland south of Patong. Tropical almond trees and big granite boulders frame the pale sand, and a coral reef lies roughly 100 metres offshore, so you can snorkel straight from the shore. Because jet skis and most motorised watersports are barred, the water stays calm and the cove keeps the quiet that Patong lost years ago. The Paradise Beach Club runs the loungers, bars, restaurants and the activities station, and it is the same club that puts on the beach's parties. It is a swim-and-relax cove first, with just enough going on to fill a full day.

Entry, Fees and Opening Hours

There is no entrance fee any more. You can walk down to the sand free of charge. What you can pay for is transport and comfort: a 50-baht round-trip shuttle saves you the steep walk down and back up the access road, and a 200-baht day package bundles that shuttle with a beach chair, a shower and toilet access. Older listings that still quote a 100 to 200 baht entry fee 'including a drink' are out of date; the operator removed the gate charge, so treat those as legacy. The beach is open roughly 9:00 am to 6:00 pm daily. Carry small baht notes for the shuttle and loungers, since card payment is not reliable on the sand.

How to Reach Paradise Beach from Patong

Paradise Beach is about 5 km southwest of Patong, a 10 to 15 minute drive. Follow Patong Beach Road to its southern end near the Amari Phuket, turn and climb the hill past Baan Yin Dee, then carry on past Tri Trang Beach and Merlin Beach toward Emerald Bay. The last stretch down to the cove is narrow and steep, which is exactly why the shuttle exists.

  • By taxi, tuk-tuk or Grab: the simplest option from Patong, about 15 minutes. Agree the fare first.
  • By scooter: quick and cheap, but the final hill is sharp, so it suits confident riders only. Free parking sits up top.
  • By beach-club shuttle: the Paradise Beach Club runs a pickup from Patong, handy on party nights when parking fills up.

Phuket International Airport is about 50 km north, close to an 80-minute drive. If you are island-hopping, the same base pairs well with a Phi Phi day trip, and you can compare the wider Phuket coast on our Phuket places to visit guide.

Things to Do at Paradise Beach

Swimming comes first. The cove is sheltered and shallow near shore, and the reef about 100 metres out is the reason to bring a mask; snorkelling is best around high tide when the water is clearest. The activities station rents kayaks and stand-up paddleboards and arranges snorkelling, bodyboarding and beginner scuba, while the beach club covers loungers, bars, restaurants and a couple of shops. After dark the beach is known for its Full Moon Party, an all-night party held on full-moon dates with its own ticket that usually includes a drink and a shuttle from Patong. Want a quieter patch on a busy day? Walk left past the restaurants, over the small hill and down the steps to the second cove.

Best Time to Visit

The cove faces west and is well sheltered, so it swims calmly for most of the year. The reliable window is November to April, Phuket's dry season, when the water is clear and flat enough for easy snorkelling. The May to October monsoon brings rougher surf and some grey afternoons, but also thinner crowds and lower rates. For the beach itself, weekday mornings, especially Tuesday and Wednesday, are the calmest; weekends and full-moon nights are the busiest. Get there by late morning to claim a lounger, and since the cove faces west, stay for the sunset.

"Take the 50-baht shuttle down rather than driving. The access road is steep and the parking up top fills fast on weekends," says the TravelTriangle Phuket desk.

The entry, shuttle and access facts on this page were checked against the official Paradise Beach operator listing in August 2026.

Plan Your Phuket Trip

Paradise Beach is an easy morning from Patong, and it slots neatly into a longer island itinerary. If you are booking from India, our Phuket and Phi Phi island tour pairs quiet cove mornings with a Phi Phi day trip, and you can browse the full range of Thailand tour packages to build a trip around it. For more of the coast, read our guide to Karon Beach nearby.

The check-in process was seamless. The accommodation itself was beyond my expectations.I really love the swimming pool and the buffet breakfast. Beyond the hotel, the itinerary you crafted for us was diverse and captivating. From exploring the bustling streets of Bangkok to immersing myself in the natural wonders of Phuket, every destination left an indelible mark on my heart. I will undoubtedly recommend your travel agency to my friends, family, and colleagues who are seeking an extraordinary travel experience. Yugal was our travel agent. He was always available from the day we booked the trip till we completed our trip. He was always a call away and was helpful to resolve all the queries. His commitment was commendable. We took 4 night 5 days package. The hotels we stayed were fortunately good. Cab serv
ices were not as much cooperative as expected. I would suggest to include most imp tourist spots of bangkok/pattaya in basic package itself. Like we had a bangkok city tour in our package but reclining budha/watarun temple was not part of it. Better to have it included in basic packages which would improve customer satisfaction. But overall it was a good and hustle free experience.

    Phuket Travel FAQs

Does Paradise Beach Phuket have an entrance fee?

No. The beach removed its gate fee, so you can walk down to the sand free of charge. You only pay if you want the optional 50-baht round-trip shuttle down the access road, or the 200-baht day package that adds a beach chair, shower and toilet access. Older listings quoting a 100 to 200 baht entry fee are out of date.

What are the Paradise Beach opening hours?

The beach is open roughly 9:00 am to 6:00 pm daily. If you are coming for the Full Moon Party, that runs separately through the night on full-moon dates. Aim to arrive by late morning on a normal day to get a lounger before the cove fills up.

How do I get to Paradise Beach from Patong?

It is about 5 km southwest of Patong, a 10 to 15 minute drive. Head to the southern end of Patong Beach Road near the Amari, climb the hill past Tri Trang Beach, then take the steep final stretch down to the cove. A taxi, tuk-tuk or Grab is easiest; scooters suit confident riders; or use the beach club's shuttle from Patong.

Can you swim and snorkel at Paradise Beach?

Yes. The cove is sheltered and calm, which makes it good for swimming, and there is a coral reef about 100 metres offshore that you can snorkel straight from the beach, best around high tide. Jet skis are not allowed, so the water stays quiet. The activities station also rents kayaks and paddleboards.

    Is Paradise Beach worth visiting?

For a calm swim, easy snorkelling and a full beach-club day close to Patong, yes. It is quietest on weekday mornings and liveliest on weekends and full-moon nights. It is a relaxing cove rather than a big watersports beach, so set expectations around swimming, sunbathing and the reef.

What is the Paradise Beach Full Moon Party?

It is an all-night beach party held on full-moon dates, the beach's signature event. Entry is by a separate ticket that usually includes a drink and a shuttle from Patong. If you are visiting for the daytime beach rather than the party, come on a non-party date for the quiet cove.

Where exactly is Paradise Beach located?

Paradise Beach is in Kathu, on the south side of Patong Bay, about 5 km southwest of Patong Beach. Phuket International Airport is roughly 50 km north, close to an 80-minute drive.
