Things to Do in Sikkim

Trekking is one of the best things to do in Sikkim due to the peaceful and scenic natural environs all around. One of the best treks to try is the Goecha La Trek which tests your strength and skill and takes you to high altitudes and past gorgeous mountain peaks and beautiful lakes. You will start from Yuksom and end at Lamuney and en route you will get to view the Tshoka Rhododendron forests, the green forest of Sachen, the Kanchenjunga mountain peaks and the sparkling Samiti Lake.

One of the other fun things to do in Sikkim is to go river rafting on the great rapids of Teesta. This is the perfect way to get an adrenaline rush as you will get to meander your way through mighty rapids that range from grades 2 to 4.  This river rafting experience also provides picturesque views of the riverbank that is filled with green paddy fields, small villages and white sandy beaches.

One of the top 10 things to do in Sikkim is to enjoy a yak ride to explore popular routes like Tsomgo Lake and the Dzongri region. Enjoy the scenic views while riding on these gentle beasts that are decorated with woolen knitwear and bells around the necks. You can try yak riding from March to May and from September to December as the weather is ideal during this time.

Besides this, another fun way to enjoy adventure in Sikkim is to go mountain biking through the rocky terrains and snow covered mountain peaks. Bike through the thrilling trails which generally start from Gangtok, Yumthang or Rumtek. Savor the majestic beauty of the hills, understand the Sikkimese culture and take in the beautiful views of the lush surroundings on these bike trails. The best time to go mountain biking is from April till May and mid-September to October.

Nikhil helped organize a 7 N / 8 D trip to Darjeeling and Sikkim.. Was really well planned. The hotels were comfortable and food arrangements extremely good.
