    1. Buddha Park

    This place is also known as the Tathagata Tsal. This is a well-maintained park and is one of the best places to visit in Ravangla, Sikkim. The park is quite a new construction within the ancient religious complex of the Rabong Gompa. The Rabong Gompa is centuries of years old. The 130 feet high statue of Buddha at the park is the main attraction. The Sikkim government had decided to build it in the year 2006 to observe the birth anniversary throughout the year in Sikkim. There are ample walkways gardens and space for visitors to enjoy the serene surroundings. There is also the Cho-Dzo Lake located within this monastery complex that adds to the beauty of the place. The lake is surrounded by a forest.

    2. Ralang Monastery

    The Ralang Monastery belonging to the Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism is situated at a distance of 10 km from Ravangla. This is one of the most sacred tourist places of Ravangla. The original and much older monastery of Ralang is located at a distance of 3 km from the present new monastery. The path to this old monastery is quite difficult and can be reached only by trekking. The new monastery which is visited by everyone today was built by the 12th Gyaltsab Rinpoche in the year 1995 and is also called the Palchen Choeling Monastic Institute. The monastery has a large inflow of visitors in the seventh month of the Buddhist calendar that is August – September. During this time the annual festival of Phang Lhabsol is held and Mount Kanchenjunga is worshipped. It’s among the best tourist places in Ravangla and is also famous for the Mahakala Dance that takes place in the month of November.

    3. Bon Monastery

    This is one of the best sightseeing places in Ravangla. The monastery is also called the Bonpo Monastery and Bon Yung Dung Monastery. This is the only non – Buddhist monastery in Sikkim. The monastery was first established by the late Yung Dung Tsultrim in 1980 CE. This monastery also facilitates the education of young students belonging to less privileged families. The Bon faith flourished in Tibet up to the 8th century AD, before the advent of Buddhism. It is believed many of the Bon rituals were assimilated in Buddhism like the prayer flags and the burning of incense. His faith today is accepted as a part of Buddhism. This monastery offers an amazing view of the surrounding hills and valleys of southern Sikkim. The architecture of the monastery is Indo – Tibetan in style. The interior of the monastery is decorated with paintings of Bon Demonical Buddha and Bon Deity.

    4. Doling Gompa

    The monastery is built on a raised platform and this gives a spectacular view of the towering mountains, lush greenery, and thick forests with the blue sky as the backdrop. This is one of the top places to visit in Ravangla. It has a lot of religious significance. The footprint of Khangchendzonga’s Horse and Lama Dorje Lingpa has been preserved here. It has been permanently installed along the inner walls of the monastery. There are also images of Manjushri, Vajra Pani, and Dorje Lingpa. This is a good spot for trekking. If you have to go to the monastery then take the trek road from Barfung Retreat through the forest to reach the monastery. There are about 500 staircases that one has to climb. The steps are cut into the steps of the hill. There is also a small lake located near the monastery. The entire path and the monastery itself are surrounded by numerous prayer flags.     5. Kheunpheling Carpet Centre

    This is one of the most popular places to visit in Ravangla. This settlement was established in the year 1978 and since then it has been famous for the carpets made here. The place is situated in the Tibetan Refugee Settlement Camp. The carpet center was set up in order to boost the traditional Sikkimese handicraft and handloom work. All the things made here are handcrafted by Tibetan refugees. Apart from carpets, you will also get kurtas, beautiful shawls, and other woolen products. These are very beautiful products that display the skills of the craftsmen. The center not only promotes the art of the people but also teaches the art of weaving and wood carving to the craftsmen.

    6. Rayong Sunrise Point

    You get a spectacular view of the Singalila range and the Chola range of Bhutan from the Rayong Sunrise Viewpoint altitude of 6700 feet. This is another one of the important places to visit in Ravangla. This spot falls on the way to the Temi Tea Garden. You will experience one of the best sunrise views with the sun lighting up the snowy peaks of Mount Narsing, Mount Jopuno, Mount Kabru, Mount Rathong, Mount Pandim in that serial order.
