Weather In Himachal In May
The weather at Shimla remained pleasant throughout our journey. There were no occasional rain showers or thunderstorms. It can get a bit chilly in the night, so if you’re wondering what to pack for Himachal trip, make sure you carry lots of woollen jackets and overcoats. We were slightly disappointed upon reaching Manali as we didn’t witness any snow, but the awesome weather made up for it.
Highlights From Our Budget Trip To Himachal
We have shortlisted some of the highlights from our budget trip to Himachal that you may include in your travel itinerary:
1. River Rafting
One of the most special experiences from our trip to Himachal on budget was river rafting at Kullu. My wife and I, being huge adrenaline junkies, were waiting for this activity with bated breaths. We fell in the river once and the water was icy cold but after a few moments of discomfort, we enjoyed floating in the water. Our instructor was friendly and made sure we were well-looked after.
2. Snow Skiing
Solang Valley has some of the finest ski slopes. The Mountaineering Institute of Manali has installed a ski lift for training purpose here. A guest house of Mountaineering and Allied Sports Institute, Manali is situated a stone’s throw away from the Institute. My wife and I had never skied before, so we were as nervous as children going to school for the first time. We fell a couple of times but we managed to do a few laps.

3. Horse And Yak Ride
There were a lot of fun activities scheduled for us at Kufri village like horse and yak ride, moon walking, haunted house, mirror maze, infinity room, and tunnel ride. We had the utmost fun experiencing all of these rides. We were left thrilled by the beauty of Kufri and were pleased by the hospitality of the locals who carried out these activities.
4. Local Sightseeing
We continued towards Hadimba temple which was built in 1553. It has a superbly crafted four tiered pagoda roof and is famous for its exquisitely carved doorway. We then proceeded towards the Club House. We enjoyed a range of facilities there, such as a roller skating rink, an auditorium, billiards rooms, a library, a bar and a restaurant.
Where To Stay In Himachal
The offbeat stays in Himachal provided by TravelTriangle were satisfactory. We enjoyed our stay the most at hotel Raidavilla at Manali. It was equipped with world-class facilities and it is easily accessible by road. It is located a stone’s throw away from the prime attractions in Mandi. The rooms are neat and clean and the hospitality are satisfactory.
Food In Himachal
We preferred street food delicacies in Himachal because we both are fond of experimenting with local cuisines. The food habits in Himachal Pradesh are very different from other states. We were exposed to a range of delicious food items at restaurants in Himachal Pradesh. Most of the cafes and restaurants in Mandi serve North Indian and Chinese food.

Shopping In Kullu
Kullu is home to a range of shopping complexes. We bought sweaters, cardigans, and bedsheets from the Kullu market area. Shopping in Kullu is a pleasurable experience. Make sure you bargain hard for traditional artifacts because most of the shopkeepers quote an unrealistically high price for handmade products.
