Every February, the country awaits the blooming season of Tulips. Basant Panchami brings the onset of the spring season, and one can feel the fresh air. Rows upon rows of manicured Tulips welcome tourists visiting to see this flower that blooms for only a fortnight or two.
Significance of Tulip Festival Delhi 2025
Kashmir is known for its tulip gardens, grown ever since the time of Babur. Srinagar hosts its tulip festival annually in March and April. Inspired by the tulip gardens of Amsterdam, which have become synonymous with the flower, the country started hosting a tulip festival in Kashmir starting in 2007. Visitors from across the country would visit the flowering valleys of Srinagar to see flower bulbs spread across 30 acres of land. Travelling so far isn’t always possible for most people. To beautify the city and to promote Delhi tourism, the festival is now hosted in the capital city each year.
New Delhi Municipal Council hosts the Delhi Tulip Festival in February for two weeks full of frolic among flowers. For the last 3 years, the roundabouts in Chanakyapuri have been decorated with blossoming tulip bulbs shining brightly in yellow, red, orange, pink, purple and white hues. Most of the 3 lakh tulips are imported from the Netherlands. The festival is more than just a celebration of flowers and gardening; it strengthens international solidarity between the two countries. Shantipath is also called the Embassy Area, and officials from the Netherlands embassy participate in the festival to consolidate Indo-dutch friendship.

The beginning of the spring season is characterised by a fresh liveliness in the air, as if nature is waking up from a restful slumber. Tulips are planted across the lawns from Shantipath in front of the Embassy of The Republic of Sudan in Chanakyapuri. You can also see them at Central Park in Connaught Place, Sardar Patel Marg, Mandi House, W Shershah Suri Marg, and the Vice President’s House roundabout.

How To Reach Tulip Festival Delhi
Reaching the Tulip Festival in Delhi is easy. The festival is held in Chanakyapuri, in central Delhi, which is easily accessible from all corners of the city. You can travel by Delhi Metro, DTC buses, or take an auto or a cab.
By Bus: Shantipath is a DTC bus stop. The garden is at a distance of 1.3 km from the Tulip Garden, but as soon as you get off at Shantipath, you’ll see Tulips decorating road dividers and sidewalks.
By Metro: The closest metro stop from Shantipath is Sir Vishweshwaraiah Moti Bagh on the pink line. It’s a 7-minute walk from Shantipath. Lok Kalyan Marg is the next closest station, lying on the yellow line, at a 15-minute walking distance from Shantipath.
