    Situated in Northeastern Province of Maranhao, this is one of the most striking national parks in Brazil. Stretching miles and miles without vegetation but only rolling sand dunes with white sand. The best time to visit this national park is from July to September when the valleys between the sand dunes are filled with rainwater. All the tours in the park are conducted in 4×4 or horsebacks.

The most interesting places in the park include the Cachoeira da Fumaça waterfalls, which also the highest waterfalls in Brazil. Some other highlights of the natural reserve are the incredibly blue waters of Poço Encantado and Poço Azul.     Itatiaia National Park is amongst one of the oldest national parks in Brazil. Situated in the Mantiqueira mountain ranges of southeastern Brazil, it is home to some of the highest mountains in Brazil such as Prateleiras and Agulhas Negras.
