The Surkanda Devi Temple is a beautiful temple dedicated to Goddess Sukanda, who, according to Hindu Mythology, is a manifestation of Goddess Parvati. The temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in the Indian Subcontinent. The temple is located in Dhanaulti in the Tehri district of Uttarakhand and is 2,757 metres above sea level. The temple is one of the most significant sites for Hindu pilgrims because it is considered to be one of the places where Goddess Sati’s Head fell when Lord Shiva was carrying her corpse after her self-sacrifice. The temperature is most vibrant during the Ganga Dussehra festival when many devotees visit to seek the blessings of Goddess Parvati. The timings for Surkanda Devi Temple start in the early morning, around 5 a.m., and the doors are closed for devotees and tourists at 10 p.m.

5. Tehri Dam

Tehri Dam is one of the most giant dams in India. Built over the Bhagirathi River, the dam serves various purposes, including power generation (hydroelectricity), irrigation to nearby fields, and the municipal water supply. The dam lies approximately 80 km away from the capital city of Uttarakhand, Dehradun. The dam was established in 2006, and its construction began in 1978.
