Africa Travel Guide
Africa is one of the largest continents in the world, both in terms of people and land. The continent has 50 countries, several diverse landscapes, and countless tribes and ethnic groups. This makes it a prime tourist destination, with a myriad of local places for travel, which you will find explored in detail in this Africa travel guide. Let’s take a look at the highlights of Africa Tourism:
Wild Safaris and Animal Parks
One of the top highlights of tourism in Africa and African tours is Wild Safaris. “Safari” is a Swahili word that means “journey”, and is quite similar to tours found in various destinations all over the world. Wild safaris are a popular activity in the East, Central, and Southern Africa, and they are a must-do activity when visiting these regions. The best safaris are in East Africa, where you can witness the breathtaking wildebeest migration in Kenya and Tanzania.
Other African countries you can visit for wild safaris include Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana. In these countries, you will also be able to spot the Big Five and other amazing animals such as gorillas, cheetahs, antelopes, giraffes, crocodiles, and others.
Depending on the timing of African holidays, the continent offers plenty of opportunities for hiking, climbing, and trekking, and they are perfect for adventure seekers. Some of the top mountains to visit in Africa include the Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Mt. Kenya, Mt. Elgon, and Aberdare Ranges in Kenya, Mt. Elgon and Rwenzori Mountain in Uganda, Atlas Mountain in Morocco, Drakensberg Mountains in South Africa, and others.
Ancient archeological sites
Another highlight of Africa tours is exploring famous archeological sites. Some of the best archeological sites in Africa that one should visit include:
Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania – Tanzania has remains of early human species, as well as evidence of their social and economic activities – hunting, scavenging, religion, etc.
Gedi Ruins in Kenya – a coastal town along the Kenyan coast that was a trading hub from around the 13th century to the 17th century.
The Sterkfontein Caves in South Africa also referred to as “the Cradle of Humankind” due to the large fossils of early human species that have been discovered.
The Valley of the Kings in Egypt, which served as the burial ground for Egyptian Pharaohs (monarchs), royal family members, and nobles from around 16th century to 11th century BC.
Tasty African dishes
Africa is a diverse continent with over 3,000 distinct ethnic groups, each having their own different delicacies. Some of the top delicacies to taste in Africa include:
Sadza (ugali) - a staple dish people eat throughout Africa, but mostly in Kenya. A variety of meats, vegetable stews, and soups accompany this dish when served.
Jollof Rice – a popular dish served in the western Africa countries, including Nigeria, Senegal, Liberia, Gambia, Togo, and Sierra Leone.
Doro Wat – a tasty delicacy in Ethiopia and Eritrea that is prepared with a variety of meats, vegetables, and a mixture of spices
Bobotie – a tasty delicacy in South Africa, which is prepared with minced meat and spices. Spicy rice, potatoes, or pasta accompanies the dish.
Pilau – It is a rice dish prepared with meat and spices, and it is popular among the East African communities, especially those found in Tanzania, Zanzibar, and the Kenyan Coastal region.

Trip to South AfricaHi sirs Thanks for arranging our South Africa tour consisting of 12N / 13 Days. Would like to give some fair feedback for your reference and records and corrective actions wherever necessary. The feedback is graded on a scale ranging from 9 to 1, where 9 is the best and 1 you can understand. I will be rating the following for your benefit of better understanding – Hotels for Stay Breakfast in the same hotels Transportation / Logistics Drivers Local numbers for emergency calls for any requirement Starting with Hotel for Stay – Peermont Suites – Comfortable stay but so great, hence would like to give rating of 6 Breakfast in the above hotel was good but not many choices, hence would like to rate it as 7 Kruger Park Lodge – Comfortable stay, we liked it. Hence would like to give rating of 8 Breakfast in the above was just ok and nothing great, hence rating is 5 Sun Soho – very compact room, child bed is a sofa converted into bed, my son is almost 6 ft. hence rating is 6 Breakfast in the above hotel is good, manageable. Would like to rate it as 7 Blackwaters River Lodge – Pls do not recommend this place, its very pathetic. Only plus point is it is close to Knysna. Otherwise there is no reason why this hotel was given to us. We had to travel to go places. Would like to give ratings 4 Breakfast in the above hotel is also very pathetic. We were the only guests in this hotel and the hardly any choices in food. Hence we would like to rate it as below 3 Holiday Inn – Name is big, but the room is very small to accommodate 3 people in the room. It was just ordinary room with a double bed ( just not enough for two people to sleep ) and a single bed. Hence, would like to rate this stay of 5 Breakfast in the above hotel was just fine. Its ok. Hence rating may be like 6. Transportation / Logistics was good all thru. Good vehicles given to us. Would like to rate it as 9 Drivers – Both Haroon Ismail upto drop to Johannesburg after 6 days and thereafter Sipho from pick from George airport till drop us back to Cape Town international airport were very good. They were humble, obedient and very supportive. We like both and would like to rate them as 9. Local contacts for emergency was just fine. However, we enjoyed the full tour without any problems and your arrangements were fine. The Shark Cage dive was cancelled by the tour agent there due to sea roughness as told us. They said they would refund money to you. Pls let me know how you want to refund us the same. Many Thanks once again for arranging the tour for us. Regards / Ramesh

Trip to South AfricaWe dis not get good hotel stay in Pretori.. very bad for an Indian tourist to stay there . No near by restaurants for food . We sid not like it personally . And very small room for 3 people. Even in Sun city cabanas for 3 people it's a very small room . And next time I would like u not to suggest Sun City to anyone because it's really waste of time. Do suggest guests to not opt SunCity.. and we got really really good driver from Cape Town Mr.Faruk . Excellent he is . The next drivers weren't that impressive but they all helped us . Only one driver in Jhoburg who picked us from Airport did not oblige to take us to Indian restaurant for food . And please book vegetarian meal in flight for Vegans. We sid not get Vegetarian food in flight because you hadn't booked it for us . We as a family enjoyed Garden route . Best places around . Nice stays in Garden route. We enjoyed our trip from Cape Town to Port Elizebeth. Thankyou
