Our anniversary was coming and we had been planning to take a trip somewhere outside India to make it a lot more special and memorable. After a lot of research, we zeroed down to Thailand. We chose Thailand due to multiple reasons. The most important factor for us was that they had good beaches and that was a muct for us. Secondly, they have a vibrant nightlife. The travel time is less from India, It isn’t that expensive and of course, it has many Indian restaurants and eating joints which meant that we would have easy access to it. After a lot of discussions, we contacted TravelTriangle and soon they planned our anniversary trip to Thailand.

Is Thailand In October Really A Good Time For A Vacation? Here’s Your Answer

Weather In Thailand In June

Weather in Thailand differs from place to place. We traveled in the month of June. Which is supposed to be a rainy season. The moment we landed in Phuket, there was a heavy downpour. Even in Krabi, it was overcast with intermittent showers on the day of arrival. But the rest of the days during the course of the trip was quite hot and humid. So expect the unexpected if one is traveling to Thailand in rainy seasons.

Places That We Visited On Our Anniversary Trip

We were lucky enough to see and explore some of the most amazing places in Thailand. Each place had a surprise factor and had amazing things in store for us.

1. Krabi

excited to explore the Krabi
an island hopping
beautiful places to explore on the beach
clicked a lot of pictures.
filling the hunger

Upon reaching Krabi, we were very excited to explore all that it has to offer. We spent half a day exploring the nearby places to our hotel but the next day we went out on an island hopping tour where we explored 4 very famous islands called Kohpoda. Kohgai, Kohtub, and Kohmore. Here we saw some of the most beautiful places and clicked a lot of pictures.

2. Phuket

visiting to famous destinations
having good time with partner
finding the beautiful places

We explore the local markets and other famous destinations located in Phuket. We were mesmerized by the beauty of this place. We also did a little shopping here. People can explore places like Promthep Cape, WatChalong and Phuket Town.

3. Phi Phi Islands

exploring the sea side
had an amazing time on the vacation
memorable day on the beach
witnessing the marine life on the cruise
clicking the best shots
have been to island with partner

Phi Phi Islands are one of the most famous ones in Asia. Here people can indulge in snorkeling and diving and see the marine life. When here people can also explore the amazing Peleh Cove and Monkey bay.

Hotels In Thailand Where We Stayed At

1. AvaSea Resort, Krabi

This hotel is very close to Ao-nang Beach. Walkable distance. Hardly 250 mts Right on the Main road.

We did not face any kind of issue in the hotel. Check-in and check-out process was smooth. The rooms were very clean and spotless. It was a pool facing room. Even the shoreline was visible from the balcony. The rooms were pretty large with a nice balcony with a sit-out area. A safety locker was provided to keep our valuables. It provides a flat-screen TV, air conditioning, and a refrigerator, and guests can stay connected with free wifi. The dining area was on the ground floor. Complimentary breakfast is provided to all hotel guests. The breakfast spread was pretty vast with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The staff was also very polite. Even though the hotel was right on the main road, there was hardly any noise once inside the hotel. Very calm and serene. The pool was open from morning 7 am to 7 pm.

2. Ashlee Hub Hotel, Phuket

This hotel is way different from what we experienced in Krabi. Busy Roads, Noise streets & in the midst of pubs. This was placed between Hard rock Café and the Aussie bar. Mine was a road facing the room. Check-in & check out was again a smooth process. During check-in, we need to deposit a refundable sum of 1000 bhat .

As soon as we go through the corridors, the 1st thing that strikes is that it looks very lowly and cheap. But as soon as we enter the rooms the scene changes.

The rooms are huge with a sit-out arrangement in the balcony facing the main road. We can see the staff from the pubs in front of the hotel waving at us as soon as we come to the balcony. The rooms very well ventilated with huge curtains and majestic bed. A beautiful bathroom and spotlessly clean toilets.

The hotel provides a flat screen TV, air conditioning, and a refrigerator, and guests can stay connected with free Wi-Fi. In addition, we had access to a 24-hour front desk, a rooftop terrace/pool, and a concierge.

We were provided with 2 bottles of water per day. Till late in the night we can hear the noisy sounds from the pubs in the front. There is a complimentary breakfast. But the spread was not as great compared to the one we had in Krabi. Vegetarian options are very few baring a few breadsticks and rice. This biggest plus with the hotel is its location. It is right in the center of the most happening area of Phuket. Everything is at a stone’s throw away.

How To Reach Thailand

From Bangalore, we boarded a late-night direct flight [Go-Air ] to Phuket. Travel time approximately 4 hrs. We finished our airport/visa formalities. [ Visa formalities + immigration process = 2hr ]

As soon as we reached the exit lobby. We met a person who was holding a placard with our names on it. We introduced ourselves. He took a photograph of us as a security formality and immediately got us a private cab. We boarded the cab to Krabi. We stopped en route to Krabi at a local rest house for a couple of minutes for drinks and snacks. Reached Krabi around 1:30 pm. The driver dropped us at our hotel and bid us goodbye. Travel time approximately 3 hrs.

Personal Expenses In Thailand

Since mine was an end to end package all the expenses were on food or shopping. On average for a couple who do not shop excessively or dine very lavishly, 15000 Bhat would be more than enough for personal expenses for a trip of 6 days and this was exactly our budget for Thailand trip.

Shopping In Thailand

We did most of our shopping in Phuket. Clothes are very cheap and high on quality. Anything and everything on the streets is priced high. Everything needs to be bargained. While on Phuket city tour, we did visit a state-sponsored store where prices were very reasonable. We did most of our shopping there. In Krabi, my wife bought some nice anklets and bracelets from the street shops. Again, unless you bargain you will not get anything for a good price.

Indian Restaurants In Thailand

The area was filled with Indian restaurants. We had all the food options open to us vegetarian, non-vegetarian, Thai, Indian, Italian cuisines. It should, however, be noted that Indian food in all the restaurants was very costly compared to the local Thai food. While the local Thai food costs around 50 to 200 baths, A normal Indian meal will cost upwards of 1000 bhats which is approximately 2500 INR.

We dined in the Bombay Palace hotel Guru Restaurant, Madras cafe. Madras café in Krabi is a must-visit. Absolutely delicious south Indian dosa. I can confidently say that it would be really difficult to get such nice quality food even in bangalore. Food was decent in all the hotels we had in Krabi. In Guru Restaurant we ordered a wood oven Pizza. [100 bhat].I would say it was ok. I have had better pizza but it was decent enough. In Phuket, we dined in Sajha Chulha . It was on the way to Patong beach . That’s how we came across this hotel. This is a must-visit for anyone who enjoys Indian food.

All the items that we had were tasty which made us dine there all other days we were in Phuket.

We also tried the Thai street food. Banana Pancakes with Nutella and spiced mango at Patong beach. We are still craving for the pancakes. They were heavenly.

Dos And Don’ts In Thailand

  • Even any performer approaches you for a photograph, politely refuse as they would demand money for the photograph.
  • Do not carry valuables when going on sea tours. Keep them locked in the hotel lockers.
  • Do try the local street foods. They are absolute yum.
  • Do Shop on the local markets. It’s fun and you get to meet local people.
  • Do carry some pills if you are seasick.

Travel Tips For Thailand

  • Most important is thorough research of the area is a must.
  • There are multiple information booths available everywhere. The inquiry is free of cost
  • And you can find a lot more information that is not available on the net.
  • Though not very important, but you can easily get 4g prepaid sim cards at the airport if we want to stay connected. The process to get that is also easy. The personnel himself activates it on your phone.
