The Kanto Lampo Waterfall was created after the Kanto Lampo river region was hit by an avalanche. This waterfall is in the Kelod Kangin hamlet, Beng village in Gianyar, Bali. This may not be one of the best-known waterfalls in Indonesia but is a perfect day trip spot from Ubud. This region is hidden away in Bali’s jungle and the waterfall is 10 meters from the Kanto Lampo spring. The water that now flows over the rocky cliff which was previously used for irrigation of farmlands. The cliff above is an irrigation channel but the water now gushes endlessly over the cliff.

Other than just being a great attraction for tourists from all over the world, the residents here have voiced their concern that the waterfall would disrupt the water flow from the irrigation channel to the paddy fields. However, the local authorities managed to reassure the residents that there was enough water running through the irrigation channel. The Kanto Lampo spring is abundant as it now has a cascading waterfall and provides water for the farming needs. The news of this waterfall on the Kanto Lampo river spread like a wildfire thanks to the social media platforms. How To Reach Kanto Lampo Waterfall

If you want to go to Kanto Lampo Waterfall, how to get there is not that difficult. The waterfall in Gianyar is a half an hour drive from Ubud. The cost to visit Kanto Lampo waterfall from Ubud is about 500,000 IDR for a day trip. You can rent a scooter or bike and ride yourself, this will cost you around 60,000 IDR.

The Kanto Lampo Waterfall directions are very easy. The waterfall from Kuta or Seminyak is about an hour long drive, taxis are available as well but will cost you a bit more. It is only recommended to hire a cab if you are visiting for a full day. Because the area around the waterfall is activity rich. We will cover that too. A local taxi shall cost you around 600,000 (IDR) for a day, the price might be a bit lower an that depends on how well you negotiate.
Once you have parked, the waterfall is an easy route, follow the stairs and in about 5 to 10 minutes you will face a change in the path, as the trails to the Banyumala twin waterfall and Sekumpul are tough ones.

When you have reached the waterfall the best idea is to immediately leave your belongings on the nearby rocks and get into the water because the best views of the Kanto Lampo waterfall can be seen from the water itself.

Tips For Visiting Kanto Lampo Waterfall

  • Carry a Swimsuit: The best views of the waterfall are seen only when you get in the river, so make sure you wear a swimsuit, this will double up as a good photo opportunity on the beautiful rocks at the base of the waterfall.
  • Be careful: Be conscious of the grip you attain on the climb as most of the path is quite slippery. Getting injured on such a wonderful trip would certainly be a great disappointment.
  • Shoes: It is advisable to wear shoes as there are sharp rocks in some parts of the path to the waterfall.
  • Tipping: The locals here are very helpful, and will readily give you a hand in taking photographs or in helping you climb. As a common courtesy you can give them a tip for their help.
  • Maps: Maps are required because this isn’t one of the most famous waterfalls around. So, not all taxi drivers will be knowing the route here. The location to type in Google maps is “Waterfall Kanto Lampo TRUE”. It is safer to carry a map if you don’t get cellular signal over there.
