How to Reach Europe from India?

The easiest way to travel to Europe is by flying into major airports, such as London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, or Frankfurt. There are direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore that are common. Once you land to experience European tourism, metros or airport shuttles can take you straight to the city centre.

Getting Around

Europe is renowned for its highly efficient transportation system. If you want to commute between major cities, go for high-speed trains like Eurostar or ICE. For exploring locally, metros, buses, and trams are budget-friendly — tickets usually cost €1.50 to €3, and Taxis start at €5 and increase depending on the distance.

Places to Visit in Europe

1. Barcelona, Spain -

The capital of Vibrant Spain, a dynamic city known for its charm and one of the most visited cities in Europe. From the iconic Sagrada Familia to jaw-dropping hidden coves of Mallorca, or wander through the foodie haven of San Sebastian.

2. Paris, France -

This is the kind of city that lives up to your expectations. Beyond the Eiffel Tower, the city is surrounded by art, rich culture, wine, and croissants by the Seine, as well as dreamy sunsets on the Montmartre hill, and offers a chance to explore Parisian walkways.

3. Rome, Italy -

It is loud, chaotic and memorable. The cobblestone streets lead to the historic Colosseum, Pantheon and delicious pizzas.  Go to the Trevi Fountain and throw coins, then admire the wondrous Vatican Museums.

4. Prague, Czech Republic

If you enjoy the old-school charm, Prague will win you over. From walking to enchanting Charles Bridges, sipping Hot chocolate in hidden cafes, to watching the Astronomical Clock in Old Town Square. This city has a different atmosphere during the day and at night.

5. Lisbon, Portugal

This is a hidden gem in European tourism. Wander through colourful towns, taste pastel de nata and travel through ocean views in every corner of the city. If you like slow travelling, Lisbon is a must-visit.

Best time to visit Europe

April to June and September to October are the best times to experience tourism in Europe - there are fewer crowds, excellent weather and comparatively cheaper accommodation options.

April to June is the spring season in Europe, not too crowded, making them ideal for cities like Paris, Amsterdam, and Prague. Aesthetic cafes, city walks and a lot of places to explore.

July and August are the priciest months to explore European tourism. Bookings are full and you’ll have to stand in long queues, ideal for spending time at European beaches.

September and October experience cold weather. There are fewer crowds. Best for planning vacations in Italy, Portugal and countryside getaways.

December to January are the most joyous months of the year, when you can see Christmas Markets and snow in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.

Budget and Accommodation

A 10-12 day European vacation from India can cost up to ?1,00,000 - ?2,00,000 if you plan smartly. The cost of the flights typically ranges from ?40,000 to ?60,000. If you end up sticking to public transport, local eateries, and a budget stay, you can easily manage a ?3,000 per day budget.

For a stay, look at hostels for ?2,000 per night or Airbnbs for ?4,000-6,000 per night. If you pick accommodations that are slightly away from the main area but still accessible, you can save a lot. A luxury can cost up to ?4,00,000 to ?6,00,000 for the same trip.

Things to do in Europe -

Take a boat ride in Amsterdam- Cruise through the city’s iconic waterways and look at the picturesque view that the unique city has to offer.

Go skiing in the Swiss Alps- Take a train to Austria or Zermatt and see the astonishing views of the mountains and ski in the snow.

Go to Enchanting Castles - In Germany, Scotland or Vienna. Each location will take you to breathtaking architecture, fascinating tales and beauty that will leave you in awe.

Take a sunset cruise in Santorini - Walk through the blue domes and whitewashed buildings of Santorini and witness golden sunsets.

Culture and Lifestyle in Europe-

Language -

English works in most parts of the country, but learning a few basic words and phrases can help, especially if you’re visiting small towns and cities like France, Austria and Germany.

Cuisine-

Europe boasts a diverse array of famous foods, from Pain au Chocolat in Paris, Tapas in Barcelona, to authentic Italian pizzas in Naples. Must try spots - Du Pain et des Idées, Café Central and Roscioli.

Attire

Europeans have a remarkable flair for fashion. They wear simple clothes but always look elegant. They wear neutral tones and comfortable footwear.

Shopping

What to Shop -

Shopping is sorted if you’re travelling to Europe, from luxury designers, handmade jewellery, a variety of cheeses, local chocolates and fun souvenirs like red wines, postcards and evil eyes.

Where to Shop -

Go to Parisian boutiques like Avenue des Champs-Élysées for perfumes and clothes. Fashion labels in Milan for designer clothing can be found in the Corso di Porta Ticinese area, while thrift stores in London are a popular destination for streetwear.

Short Itinerary -

Day 1: Arrive in Paris, Go to the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the Seine

Day 2 & 3: Fly to Amsterdam, go to Rijksmuseum, Rhine Valley, Anne Frank House and visit the black forest.

Days 4 & 5:  Take a train to Switzerland, explore the Swiss Alps and go skiing, witness the Matterhorn and Zermatt.

Day 6: Fly back to Paris and do last-minute shopping.

Day 7: Depart

What to Pack-

A packable jacket which is suitable for all European weather conditions

If you’re going in October-March, make sure to carry thin thermals

Take a universal travel adapter with USB ports and charge everything with just one plug.

When travelling to small towns and cities, download offline translation apps.

Buy a local SIM injector tool, it is very tiny and easy to forget while packing.

Visa and immigration

Indians need a Schengen Visa for travelling in Europe, which can cover up to 27 countries. Apply at least 5-6 weeks in advance with your travel plan, bookings and insurance in place.

Tips

The weather in Europe is unpredictable, make sure to pack light but layer smartly.

Make sure to validate your train counters from nearby counters to avoid fines.

Just in case you have no Wi-Fi, take pictures of your passport, visa and essential bookings.

Nandini's 5 days trip to Europe

We had good ex0erience with Wise hatra starting from visa assistance till the end. Thanks a lot . *Greetings from Nandini Aravind...* Thank you for assisting us with the Austria trip starting from the visa application. *Day 1*: As soon as we reached Vienna , we got freshened up and went on to visit a few places like St. Peter's cathedral and nearby places like Albertina platz . We could attend a violin concert at the cathedral on the same day from 8.30 pm. *Day 2* : As mentioned in the iternary, we went to Schonbrunn Palace and enjoyed the tour. Later, we took a combo ticket and visited Zoo, Desert palace , and botanical garden within 5pm. Zoo should be one of the must visit places as it includes penguins, pandas, koala, polar bears, and more. We did a hike at Schonbrunn, which had an amazing view. The same day, we went to Giant ferris Wheel at the amusement park and wandered around. Personally, I didn't like the ferries wheel much. *Day 3*: We booked train tickets to Melk near Danube Valley. We went on cruise till Krems and returned at around 5 pm to Vienna. We visited the rest of the places near Belvedre, Sisi Museum, etc. *Day 4*: We came to Salsburg by 4 pm and went directly to the St.peter church area. Visited all the nearby platz ,Mirabell platz. *Day 5* : We started to Hallstatt at 8.45 am bus ( had soothing views during the journey) . Reached Bad isch and then took the train to Hallstatt, ferry to lake side. We visited Beanhaus, charnel house, and cathedral. Paying for the bone house was not worth it. Then we went to Skywalk via cable car. Paid around 48 euro per person for Skywalker saltmine. Saltmine tour was really good and interesting . The tour itself was for 1.5 hours. We spent around 4 hours in Hallstatt Hills . By 4.30 pm , we came down and started back . Reached Salsburg at around 6 pm. Just roamed around and bought some gifts for loved ones. Through the journey , we used Google maps to catch the bus, train, and trams and to find washrooms (WC). Best western at Salsburg had very limited options in breakfast compared to the other two places .

Manila's 7 days trip to Europe

I had covered the Central Europe with Street Romero & very impressed. The planning was very detailed & we were given each day’s itinerary on the previous day. The trip was well organised ..just that the hotels at Paris & Venice can be little better. The hotels at Venice didn’t have lift, it was painful to carry all the luggage . Switzerland, Rome , Paris

Sudeep's 6 days trip to Europe

"SUDEEP SIVAPRASAD MENON" "One of the best holiday experiences of our life....all thanks to wise yatra for organising such a wonderful trip to Paris and swiss for 7 days and 6 nights ..... starting with the smooth visa process, flight booking, the detailed 32 page itinerary was an exhaustive and easy to follow instructions that made our each day worth while, helped us cover all the scheduled places in time and not a moment when we felt we are in a different continent and things may get difficult.....best hotels and in prime locations only added to our convenience........the village trip to Grindelwald was icing on the cake ............the team was available throughout on WhatsApp to address any and every query that we had...while I was sceptical initially to spend money on this trip but thankfully I made the correct decision and don't regret it one bit I still have friends and family asking for contact details of wise yatra since they are surprised how we covered the most beautiful and best places within the 7 days time without the trip getting fast paced Awaiting my next international trip with wise yatra!!!!!"

"We just returned from our 8 days' trip to Paris and Rome and Team Wise Yatra provided all the required assistance throughout our planning process to ensure that we have a smooth trip. As this was our first trip to Europe, their VISA related assistance was very much appreciated. The team also checked in on us from time to time during our trip, especially on days when we had prior ticket bookings. Information related to cab transfers were also provided in a very timely manner. Couple of weeks before the commencement of our trip, the team conducted a meeting over call, answering any and all of our queries in details to the best of their abilities. Thank you guys at Team Wise Yatra for all your guidance! If you are planning a trip to Europe for the first time, I would recommend you choose Wise Yatra for a lovely experience."
