This park, designated as a World Heritage Site, was a hunting reserve for the Wadiyar Dynasty, which ruled Mysore.
1955, it was transformed into a wildlife sanctuary, and in 1999, it became a Tiger reserve. The rivers Lakshmana, Teentha, and Kabini flow through the national park. The River Kabini divides Nagarhole National Park in Coorg from Bandipur National Park.

The ticket price for Indian visitors is around Rs.250, while foreigners are charged Rs.1000. You need to visit the park in person to book tickets, as online reservations are unavailable. Additional charges are applicable for safaris, DSLRs, lenses, and cameras. You are also charged separately for parking your vehicles.
