    La Digue is a small island of Seychelles in the Indian Ocean. With a population of 2800, it is the third largest island of this archipelago country. Although, La Digue first caught the attention of the French navigator Lazare Picault in 1742, it had its line of inhabitants setting up their foot on this land in the year 1789 when the first colonists arrived.

    Since then, this place became popular worldwide and that too for all the right reasons. Due to it mesmerizing environment and wonderful weather, this island has been on the bucket list for most of the people. Because of its location which is close to the equator, this place experiences rainfall during the month of October to march.

    The day temperature lies between 24 to 32 degree celsius and nights are usually cold but not much thus making it a perfect place for the tourists to have the time of their lives.     With its stunning, picturesque surroundings and jaw dropping views, this beach has got to be on the top list of any tourist’s travel plan. It is tagged as one of the most stunning and serene beaches on the island.

    The beach is also famous for its silver white sands, which gives people an out of the world kind of experience once they amble on it. Thus, this beach is also known as “The Bay of Silver Springs”. With the picture perfect sights that it has, it is a must-visit place for photography. Many international photo shoots have been held here already.

    Since the water is so crystal clear, one can walk approx 100 m in the ocean and see the fishes clearly. It has such beautiful rocks like never seen before. With perfectly positioned palm trees and a park with vanilla plantation, this sandy beach is a perfect place for watching the sunset.

    Since this beach has not been commercialized, one cannot find accommodations here. It is highly recommended to go there in the evening when most of the crowd has left and spend at least one night there. This beach does charge some entry fees but it is worth the money!

    2. Grand Anse

    Grand Anse is one another beach with its spectacular views. It has creamy white sand spread across two miles, blending in perfectly with the turquoise blue sea water. With pleasant views and hills backing up the sea from a distance, this place will surely remind you of the paradise.

    For travelers who are fond of nature and greenery, they have got to visit L’Union Estate. To have an insight of the colonial history of this island, L’Union Estate is the right place to come. The plantation houses here are an example of the French colonial architect.

    It even has a park with coconut and vanilla plantation, which can be seen at the end of the coastal road behind footpath. It has an entry fees which amounts to Euro 10. It is basically a place which reflects the essence of the work life of this place.

    At this place, one gets to come across the vanilla processing unit and Calorifier (used to make dried coconut called copra). Also, one of the famous tourist attractions of this place is the Aldabra Giant Tortoise enclosure and near this enclosure is the vanilla plantation.

    This is basically a building turned into a hotel located in the centre of La Digue. It is located 10 minutes away from the beach and is right at the foot of the only mountain that this island has.

    Once being a vanilla farm, was later converted into a small delightful hotel by the owners. It is now owned by the Saint Ange Family. This hotel was named after a small town of France, St. Cloud.

    A tourist can have a splendid view of the local granite formation and the very few existing coco de mer trees that are present on this island. Also, one may come across the giant tortoises that roam on this land.

    It is present in the interior of the island and is a home to the rarely seen paradise flycatcher. This is a species which is almost endangered and only 100 of them are in existence at present. These species include terrapins, moorhens and fruit bats.

    It is basically a small forest reserve which provides shelter to approx 15 pairs of birds. There is also a small information centre surrounded by flora and fauna of this place. So, in general, it is a great place for bird sightings.

    It is La Digue’s tallest peak with a summit of more than 300m (980 ft) above the sea level. This place is also called the Eagle’s nest mountain.

    Tourists come here to have the sensational view of the island for the top of that land. To get there, one can follow the inland concrete road form La Passé to Snack Bellevue. From there, follow a narrow path that leads to an intersection point and then take right and keep walking until the sight is reached.

    The specialty of the food here is that it the basic ingredients of the food prepared here are imported from Italy itself, thus it has its own kind of uniqueness and an essence of Italian culture in the food that is served here.

    This beach is less crowded as compared to the other beaches on the island. Initially, there used to be a large production of copra here. To come to this place, there is path from Grand Anse and Anse Fourmis. Also, the closest snack shops and parking spaces are approximately 30-40 minutes away on foot from the main beach.

    Since this beach has a road nearby, one can even come to this place via bikes or cars. There is also ample space to park their vehicles. Along with its ecstatic scenery, this beach has variety of other facilities like snack shops, small boutiques and a bar towards the north end of the beach.
