Our 6 days honeymoon trip to Andaman started as we left for Andaman from Mumbai and reached Port Blair on time. After that, we headed out for sightseeing tour of Port Blair. We covered some really interesting places such as cellular jail, also called Kala Pani, a colonial prison used by the British to exile the political prisoners. It was a very fascinating place and one starts reminiscing about the bygone era, when so many people died for our country’s freedom.

Tip:To get a clear picture of the history of the cellular jail, one can attend the light & sound show which is organized in the cellular jail every evening.
Opening days:Tuesday-Sunday
Timings of the show: 5:30-6:30 pm(Hindi) , 6:45-7:45 pm (English)

Couple touring Andaman

After that, it was time to visit Samudrika Naval marine museum run by the Indian Navy. There are five sections in the museum showcasing the grand history of the Andaman islands, its people and the abundant corals, giving one a glimpse of the diverse marine life present in the islands. It was a wonderful experience and gave us a deep insight into the history of the islands.

We were done with our sightseeing tour by evening, post which we came back to our hotel and slept off.

Day 2: The dazzling beaches in Havelock islands

Beaches of Andaman

We were to cover the beautiful Havelock island this day. So we got up quite early and checked out of our hotel by 9 am. It took us three hours to reach there and we reached around 12:30 pm. Upon reaching, we checked into our hotel, Moonlit Sands and relaxed there for sometime. After relaxing, we started our tour of Havelock islands.

Beautiful Andaman beach

During our honeymoon trip to Andaman we first covered the Elephant beach, a quaint beach, approximately twenty minutes away from the Havelock island dock. If you are looking for a white sandy beach with great coral reef, you have come to the right place. The beauty of this beach cannot be described in words; It is enticing for all kinds of travelers. One can easily spend hours here and just relax listening to the sounds of crashing waves. We stayed here till late afternoon, post which we visited the Kala Patthar beach, another great beach not far from the Elephant beach.

If you’ve visited the Havelock islands and not visited the Kala Patthar beach, you’ve missed out on something good. It is a very serene beach and boasts of aqua green waters and silvery sands. This beach is relatively untouched so one will not find seaside shacks here. Therefore do not forget to miss this place in your Andaman trip for couples.

Tip:You are advised to carry a hammock, as there won’t be a lot of benches or places to sit around and relax. You can easily tie a hammock to the coconut trees and enjoy the view.

After roaming around for sometime, we had dinner by the beach which made the whole experience even more beautiful. Post dinner, we came back to our hotel and slept off.

Hotel review:Moonlit Sands, Havelock
For our Honeymoon trip to Andaman we were given a really nice hotel to stay in. A hotel with spacious rooms and other amenities such as wifi and laundry services. The staff is very cordial and friendly and goes out of the way to help you. The rooms are normal rooms and most of them are sea facing. The location of the hotel is very good as it is at a walking distance from the Havelock island dock.

Tourists in Chidiya Tapu beach

To compensate, we visited the Chidiya Tapu beach, an amazing beach in Port Blair famous for its sunset point. The view of the sunset from there is something I and my wife will never forget.
After staying there for sometime, we came back to our hotel and called it a night.

Day 6 :Shopping at last!

Sightseeing in and around Andaman

This was the last day of our honeymoon trip to Andaman. We did not want to waste any time so we checked out of our hotel by 9 am.
Now it was time for some shopping. For that, we went to Sagarika Emporium, a place famous for local handicrafts. We shopped to our heart’s content and brought things ranging from souvenirs to clothes. The range of things available here is genuinely praiseworthy.
