If you intend to stay in Belgium for not more than 90 days, you need to apply for a Schengen visa. Belgium is one of the 26 European countries forming the Schengen Area which have no border controls between them. In accordance with this new procedure, the visa fee is payable to the VFS and not to the Embassy. Your passport will be returned to you at the time of submission. Children under 6 years of age and holders of a diplomatic passport or service passport who are to be accredited or employed by a diplomatic mission, consular mission or registered international organization in Belgium as well as their family members are exempted from this. The scans of the fingerprints are saved and can be reused for 10 years.
