Also called the Sehar Baba Waterfall, it’s among the biggest waterfalls in India. 3. Aharbal Waterfall

Many call it the “Niagara Falls of Kashmir” for its sheer force that is enough to drive 100 MW turbines for electricity generation. Owing to the force with which Veshu River falls down from over 25 meters high, it is probably the only waterfall in Kashmir to have fencing around it to ensure the security of tourists. 4. Noori Chamb Waterfall

Even the Mughal Emperor Jehangir was blown away by the magnificence of this waterfall, so much so that he renamed it as Noori Aabshar after the Mughal Queen Noor Jehan. It is said the queen used to bathe in these waters at least once every time she visited Kashmir. She even got a royal mirror fixed near the waterfall so that she and the king could watch it from their tent whenever they camped here. Now called the Noori Chamb in the local dialect, the gurgling waters of this waterfall used to descend from a height of 100 feet before natural erosion decreased the elevation to just 75 feet. But no matter what, this place still retains its breathtaking beauty.

What adds to the serenity of these falls is the fact that it isn’t easy to find. It is located in the middle of Behramgala and Chandimarh on Mughal Road, less than 45 km from the Poonch District of Kashmir. It is often called the ‘Milky Waterfall’ owing to the white colored vapors that are formed at the base of this waterfall where the water is collected, giving this place a very dreamy look!

5. Baba Dhansar Waterfall

Baba Dhansar waterfall near Katra is considered holy by locals and pilgrims. It is a cool and popular picnic spot amidst nature lovers and backpackers. Other than the greenish blue pond formed at the base, the most striking feature of this place is the huge spring gushing out of the mountainside in the form of thick groves creating a number of small cascading waterfalls converging into the Holy stream. Near this rivulet, you’ll find a naturally formed Shivalingam on which milky white water droplets fall continuously throughout the year, giving viewers serious ‘Baahubali’ feels. The place turns into a frenzy of music and colors on the day of Maha Shivaratri when a grand fair is organized here.

Located near the Karua Lake close to the hamlet of Karua, this place is thronged by adventure seekers owing to the scenic trekking opportunity it provides. You need to get to this lake and descend downhill through peaceful and green surroundings.
