Puttaparthi is a small town in Ananthpur district of Andhra Pradesh and is noted to be one of the famous towns in the region owing to being the birthplace of revered spiritual guru Shri Sathya Sai Baba. It is popularly deemed as the abode of peace and spiritual enlightenment as it is majorly reputed to be a pilgrim centre and
millions of devotees flock to this region owing to the benign presence of Sathya Sai Baba who is supposed to be an incarnation of Shri Shirdi Sai Baba
The town's chief attractin is the ashram of divine guru Shri Sathya Sai Baba which is popularly known as Prasanthi Nilayam. The ashram has a vast complex which can accomodate a huge number of devotees. There is a massive gathering in the ashram on the eve of Sai Baba's birthday. Due to the presence of the ashram the economy of the region has drastically improved in the form of presence of hotels, restaurants, shops, lodgings which are frequented by visitors on a huge scale. The climate is generally hot and dry throughout the year.

Puttaparthy is well connected by buses to cities like Hyderabad*472 km), Ananthpur(84km), Bangalore(154 km), Chennai(375 km). Puttaparthy has a railway station called Shri Sathya Sai Prasanthi Nilayam which connects to major cities like Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, New Delhi. Another major railway station is at Dharmavaram from where one can board train to other major cities in India. Puttaparthy has an airport which is connected to Mumbai and Chennai by Indian Airlines.
Apart from ashram Puttaparthy has other local attractions like Hanuman Temple, village mosque and Sathyabhama Temple and this temple was built by grandfather of Shri Sathya Sai Baba. There is a Shiva temple constructed on the site where Baba was born. A Kalpa Vriksha or wish fulfilling tree is also very famous along with a
meditation tree on the hillock on the way to the University.

-CHAITANYA JYOTI MUSEUM: This architectural splendour was inaugurated on 18th November 2000. It provides a memorablia of events concerning the life of Sai Baba including his healing miracles and is visited by loads of tourists every year to gain an insight into the life of Sai Baba. It represents a rich synthesis of many
architectural styles.
-SHRI SATHYA SAI OPEN SPACE THEATRE: is a planetarium which can hold 200 people and divulges information about astronomy, physics and mathematics. There is a show on space every Thursday in English as well as Hindi. This planetarium makes use of Spitz Space System, a unique combination of modern tools and methodologies in space science. Tickets are provided on a first come first serve basis.
-ANJANEYA SWAMI TEMPLE: provides an inexplicably beautiful ambience with the entrance of the temple marked by a Shiva Lingam brought by Sai Baba from Kasim. The most captivating feature is the way the deity is placed in the sanctum as if engraved in a cavern. There is a pool of water which mythologically represents Lord Hanuman's tears in connection with his spiritual link with Lord Rama.
-Ganesh Gate is the entry point of Shri Sathya Sai Baba ashram. Gopuram is constructed in the South Indian style of architecture. The magnificent facade boasts of beautiful design and structure.
- A Banyan tree planted by Sai Baba is a unique attraction for tourists. The tree is meant to awaken one's spiritual aura and strengthen it through consistent meditation. The surroundings of the tree are designed as a silent zone so that devotees can spend hours in meditation without interruption.
-Kalpa Vriksha tree is frequented by large number of visitors and is considered as a milestone in the life of Sathya Sai Baba. The tree has been a witness to many miraculous tales of the great divine guru Sathya Sai Baba. It is Located at the slope of Obuladevara Gutta’hill.
