On this day of our 5 days in Mauritius, we visited the ship-making factory in Curepipe and enjoyed shopping at the duty-free shops in Floreal. The views of the scenic town of Curepipe & its surroundings from the extinct crater of Trou aux Cerfs were astounding. In the afternoon, we drove through the nature park of Black River & Plaine Champagne to Chamarel village. We also made a stop at Grand Bassin Sacred Lake and laid our eyes on the stunning 108 feet statue of “Mangal Mahadev”. The next stop was Chamarel, the unusual 7 colored earth created by volcanic rocks. The views of the Chamarel waterfalls were startling.
