Originally termed as Abha Nagari – the City of Brightness, Abhaneri is a village located in the Dausa district of Rajasthan. The region was once ruled by Chahamanas of Shakambhari, then by Mahmud of Ghazni, then by the Mughals, and then by Marathas. Later it became a part of Jaipur. The village is famous for Chand Baori (stepwell) – one of the oldest, deepest, and largest stepwell in Rajasthan.
