The temple is located in the village of Karnali, near the renowned town of Chanod. The estimated height of the temple is around 800 feet above sea level. One has to complete a climb of 680 steps in order to reach the temple. There are regular bus services commuting from Vadodara to the temple. The temple holds a mythological significance. According to the urban legend, Lord Shiva was scrounging his way through a dense forest, situated at the shore of river Narmada with his beloved wife, Parvati. Due to the long stroll, Parvati reached the pinnacle of exhaustion and was completely famished. She further requested Lord Shiva for food and water. As the availability of food and water was almost negligible, Lord Shiva concluded that it would be better if stays there in the semblance of food and water.
