A 6-day tour with our Munnar packages from Bangalore is the perfect amount of time to spend on your wonderful vacation.
Best Time To Visit
Summer
As is emblematic of every hill station, the summer seasons here are still fairly cool for people travelling from other parts of the country. Particularly those living in the planar regions. Temperatures may go up to 35°C at times during the day, but they also drop down to as low as 19 °C once it gets dark outside. There’s really nothing that may be considered off-limits during the summer months from March to May.
Monsoon
The downpour in Munnar during the monsoon season is quite severe, so people tend to steer clear of this town between the months of June and September. Temperatures are nice and cool, ranging from 20 °C to 25 °C, but the roads and hiking trails that are such an important feature here do get a bit treacherous due to the rain. The vegetation is in full bloom, however, so if you’re especially careful, it is still worth a visit just to see it all.
Winter
Adventure lovers should travel to Munnar in the winter. The cold is extremely biting between the months of November and February as temperatures drop down to about 10 °C to 15 °C. You simply have to work up a sweat to keep the chill at bay. Hiking in these gorgeous surroundings, taking a stroll in the tea plantations maybe even getting some rock climbing done on an especially steep trail are the best ways to spend your time here.
How To Reach
By Air
There are no direct flights to Munnar since it doesn’t have an airport and the nearest airport is in Cochin, about 110km away. Thankfully, flying from Bangalore’s Kempegowda International Airport to Cochin International Airport is a painless process, with plenty of non-stop flights that take a little over an hour. There are buses or taxis available from there to take you to Munnar.
By Rail
There is no direct connection to Munnar via railway, either. The closest station, Ernakulam Junction, is only 88 km away, however, and there are as many as 10 direct trains that ply back and forth between that station and Bangalore City Junction, along with 23 others that require a change of trains. The direct route takes about 11 hours to complete on average, with the bus/taxi ride to Munnar itself adding another 4 hours or so.
By Road
You could also take a straight shot from Bangalore to Munnar, either by bus or with your own vehicle. You’ll be surrounded by seemingly endless greenery for a huge portion of the nearly 470 km journey, with plenty of exciting stopovers along the way. A non-stop road trip should take about 10 hours to complete, but that’s assuming that traffic cooperates.
