How To Reach

By Air: Fly to Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun, about 238 km from Kedarnath. There are also helicopter services available from Phata, Sersi, and Guptkashi to Kedarnath. 

By Train: The nearest Railway station is Rishikesh Railway Station, which is 216 km away.

By Road: Take a bus or taxi from Rishikesh to Gaurikund, and from there it's just a 16 km trek to Kedarnath.

Getting around Kedarnath: 

To travel within Kedarnath, a helicopter, using ponies, or hiring palkis are the best transportation options. Additionally, one can also reach the Kedarnath attractions by walking or trekking. 

Budget & Accommodation

Exploring the temple city of Kedarnath is moderately expensive, costing around INR 8,000 to INR 30,000 per person. There are ample accommodation options that suit every budget, from budget-friendly dharamshalas and ashrams to deluxe hotels and resorts. A decent staycation in Kedarnath starts from INR 500 per night. However, the cost can vary depending on the location, the number of people, and the amenities provided.  

Food

Kedarnath offers a wide range of vegetarian food options, similar to those found in northern India. Savour the flavours of Kedarnath at its local Garwali and Kumaoni restaurants. Thenchwani, Aloo Puri, Mandua ki Roti, Jhangora Ki Kheer, Chaunsu, and Kaafuli are the must-try foods in Kedarnath. However, being a religious city, non-veg foods are prohibited.

Other Important Information 

With careful planning and consideration, one can visit Kedarnath with elderly parents and kids. However, the high altitude and challenging trek may pose some difficulties. Before visiting, consider alternative travel options, such as a helicopter ride from Phata or Sersi, a pony ride, and a palanquin.
