Best Time To Visit Karnataka

Plan your trip during best season to experience the best of this stunning destination

October through April is the best time to visit Karnataka and South India. Owing to the location of the state in South India, the climate of Karnataka remains on the warmer side throughout the year. Winters are mild, summer are hot and humid, and monsoon arrives early in Karnataka. The depends on several factors such as hotel prices, rainfall, activities, and more. The temperature of Karnataka varies as per its geography. While the coastal regions are hotter, places in the Western Ghats experience cooler weather throughout the year.

Home to diverse landscapes and topographical features, the state of Karnataka is a year-round destination. Cities like Bengaluru and Mysuru, located on the Deccan Plateau, experience a temperate climate most of the year. Here’s a season-wise detailed look at the best season to visit Karnataka for a holiday.

Climate in Karnataka

Summer Season in Karnataka

Due to its highlands, most tourist destinations in Karnataka don’t experience hot and humid summer i.e. from April to June. The coastal, north central, and south central are the main three climatic zones of Karnataka. Bangalore experiences moderate summer, with day temperatures hovering around 35 to 40 degrees. Cities in northern Karnataka witness scorching summers with temperatures reaching 45 degrees in April and May.

The hill stations of Karnataka provide respite to the tourists from plains of Karnataka as well as the other parts of India. If you’re planning to visit hill stations like Coorg then summer is the best time to visit Karnataka. Avoid visiting the beaches or coastal regions, which should be visited between November and March.

Monsoon Season in Karnataka

Monsoon season in Karnataka lasts from July through September. The region receives about 143 inches of average rainfall annually. Once travelers can go past thunderstorms and hard-to-access roads, hill stations in the Western Ghats are really scenic and atmospheric during a downpour. Mountain streams flow with full power before tumbling over forested hills as spectacular waterfalls.

The eastern parts of Karnataka are a little drier as it gets less rainfall. Although the monsoon season is a bit humid in Karnataka, it brings in lots of heavy showers and thunderstorms from the month of July to September. Monsoon is the best season to visit Karnataka for those looking to catch a glimpse of the exotic flora and fauna of wildlife sanctuaries in Karnataka.

Winter Season in Karnataka

Winter is an ideal time to visit Karnataka. Regions closer to the Arabian Sea and beaches of Karnataka are a little warmer and mostly sunny. From November through March, the weather of Karnataka remains clear and the temperature hovers under 30 degrees in the daytime. Winter is the best time to visit Karnataka. Travelers can plan a safari to Bandipur National Park or Nagarhole National Park to encounter wildlife in Karnataka and exotic flora.

The drop of temperature in Karnataka during winter is gradual and higher elevations are moderately cold. Coastal regions of Karnataka experience less humidity in winter, which makes it the best time to visit Karnataka. During this time of the year, local festivals in such as Mysuru Dussehra and Makar Sankranti can be enjoyed. Winter season may be a little more crowded but overall, it’s the best season to visit Karnataka.

Sonicasonawane's 5 days trip to Karnataka

While the trip was enjoyable overall, there were a couple of areas where I believe improvement is needed. Itinerary Suggestions: The itinerary provided could have been more thoughtfully tailored. Hotel Rooms & Houseboat Quality: Unfortunately, the hotels and rooms selected did not meet expectations. Considering the price paid, the accommodations were below standard. Additionally, there was a discrepancy between the pictures shown during booking and the actual rooms. The rooms were not as clean as they should have been, which was disappointing. Overall, I appreciate the efforts made by Travel Triangle, but there are areas for improvement to ensure a higher quality experience for future travelers. Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback.

Himshita's 6 days trip to Karnataka

Hi, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to provide some feedback regarding the itinerary for my recent trip. While I appreciate your efforts in organizing the trip, I found that the itinerary was not as well planned as expected. Firstly, the places to visit in the selected locations seemed poorly organized. Some of the destinations mentioned in the itinerary like Dam in Coorg and Sakleshpura didn't exist or may not be operational and waterfall in Sakleshpura is a private property that we cannot visit without permission. Additionally, the sequence of the places was not ideal. The travel flow felt disjointed, and there were long travel times between certain cities, which could have been optimized to make the trip more enjoyable. I hope this feedback can help improve the planning for future trips, as I believe with better organization and sequencing, the experience would have been much more seamless. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Best regards, Himshita
