Best Time To Visit Karnataka
Plan your trip during best season to experience the best of this stunning destination
October through April is the best time to visit Karnataka and South India. Owing to the location of the state in South India, the climate of Karnataka remains on the warmer side throughout the year. Winters are mild, summer are hot and humid, and monsoon arrives early in Karnataka. The best time to visit Karnataka depends on several factors such as hotel prices, rainfall, activities, and more. The temperature of Karnataka varies as per its geography. While the coastal regions are hotter, places in the Western Ghats experience cooler weather throughout the year.
Home to diverse landscapes and topographical features, the state of Karnataka is a year-round destination. Cities like Bengaluru and Mysuru, located on the Deccan Plateau, experience a temperate climate most of the year. Here’s a season-wise detailed look at the best season to visit Karnataka for a holiday.
Climate in Karnataka
Summer Season in Karnataka
Due to its highlands, most tourist destinations in Karnataka don’t experience hot and humid summer i.e. from April to June. The coastal, north central, and south central are the main three climatic zones of Karnataka. Bangalore experiences moderate summer, with day temperatures hovering around 35 to 40 degrees. Cities in northern Karnataka witness scorching summers with temperatures reaching 45 degrees in April and May.
The hill stations of Karnataka provide respite to the tourists from plains of Karnataka as well as the other parts of India. If you’re planning to visit hill stations like Coorg then summer is the best time to visit Karnataka. Avoid visiting the beaches or coastal regions, which should be visited between November and March.
Monsoon Season in Karnataka
Monsoon season in Karnataka lasts from July through September. The region receives about 143 inches of average rainfall annually. Once travelers can go past thunderstorms and hard-to-access roads, hill stations in the Western Ghats are really scenic and atmospheric during a downpour. Mountain streams flow with full power before tumbling over forested hills as spectacular waterfalls.
The eastern parts of Karnataka are a little drier as it gets less rainfall. Although the monsoon season is a bit humid in Karnataka, it brings in lots of heavy showers and thunderstorms from the month of July to September. Monsoon is the best season to visit Karnataka for those looking to catch a glimpse of the exotic flora and fauna of wildlife sanctuaries in Karnataka.
Winter Season in Karnataka
Winter is an ideal time to visit Karnataka. Regions closer to the Arabian Sea and beaches of Karnataka are a little warmer and mostly sunny. From November through March, the weather of Karnataka remains clear and the temperature hovers under 30 degrees in the daytime. Winter is the best time to visit Karnataka. Travelers can plan a safari to Bandipur National Park or Nagarhole National Park to encounter wildlife in Karnataka and exotic flora.
The drop of temperature in Karnataka during winter is gradual and higher elevations are moderately cold. Coastal regions of Karnataka experience less humidity in winter, which makes it the best time to visit Karnataka. During this time of the year, local festivals in such as Mysuru Dussehra and Makar Sankranti can be enjoyed. Winter season may be a little more crowded but overall, it’s the best season to visit Karnataka.

Trip to KarnatakaWe were planning for vacation to Coorg and Bandipur. From day one, MyHolidayHappiness contacted me and started giving me package details. They we able to customize the package as per our wish. The accommodation and food was good at 'The Jungle camp Resort' in Coorg and 'MC Resort' in Bandipur. Both the resorts are away from the main city & close to nature . It provided a good detox for us. In Bandipur, we were lucky to spot a leopard and different varieties of birds etc. Overall, the safari in Bandipur was a different experience. The driver arranged by MyHolidayHappiness ( Mr.Baskar) was a good person and polite person. He was very supportive throughout the journey.
Trip to KarnatakaThe coordinator is very helpful, he helped to pick best package and hotels preference is also considered (+1).. I booked the package for Ooty Mysore for my brother... The hotels offered were also nice and pleasant. My holiday happiness = happy holidays :)
Trip to KarnatakaFeedback: What was good? 1. Appreciate Bhuvana's (Tootle travel) prompt response. 2. Porcupine Castle resort suggested by us. Do recommend this resort to most of your customers. 3. Scenic beauty of Coorg around the resort. What was not so good? 1. Driver's (Raju) behaviour and attitude. Reluctant to show places and give info about the places. Most of the places had some or the other problems according to him. He was all the time complaining and was rude. On the first day of the trip, the driver was taking a lot of calls on his mobile (holding the mobile in one hand) and driving at the same time. We had to complain to his boss to stop this behaviour. You must make sure the driver is good since a lot is dependent on the driver in any road trip. 2. Itinerary was not so good. The Honamarra Kere lake had dried up which should have been told to us earlier. We could not see some places mentioned in the itinerary because they were closed. Either the driver should inform us or the itinerary should mention the timings of the sight-seeing spots. 3. In general, all the spots were not that good. Monastery and one or two spots were worth going for. It would be great if you give some idea about sight seeing spots to the travelers.

Trip to KarnatakaThis was our second booking with Travel Triangle, the first one being our honeymoon trip to Mauritius. Therefore, we didn't think twice before going ahead. Our travel agent, Mr. Mukesh had maintained contact throughout the tour. He has been extremely efficient. We sincerely appreciate the effort he has put in. Secondly, Mr. Nagraj (driver) was not just punctual and skilled, but also very warm. Thirdly, the resorts were simply wonderful! Apart from the location, we were satisfied with the amenities we were provided with. My sincere thanks to Travilius and team for organising the trip so well. Thanks a ton for making it worth the penny!
